14-Year-old “Human Calculator”- Aryan is truly One in a Billion

Has Set Six Math World Records in a Single Day

Recognized by Guinness World Records

Aaryan Shukla, a 14-year-old from Maharashtra, India, has stunned the world with his extraordinary mental math skills. He has broken six world records in a single day.

At the age of six, he started the practice of mental calculation. He was so good at Math, so that his parents started doing some research on this. By eight, he was winning medals and trophies in international competitions.

Despite his exceptional abilities, his father insists the family doesnt share his mathematical gift. “We are a normal family,” he said. “Aaryan is truly one in a billion, but we are not a family of mental calculators.”

Recognized by Guinness World Records, his lightning-fast calculations have earned him the title of “Human Calculator.”

Shuklas records include the fastest mental addition of 100 four-digit numbers (30.9 seconds) and 200 four-digit numbers (1 minute, 9.68 seconds). He also set records for the fastest multiplication of two five-digit numbers (51.69 seconds) and two eight-digit numbers (2 minutes, 35.41 seconds).

He completed the mental division of a 20-digit number by a 10-digit number set of 10 in 5 minutes and 42 seconds and added 50 five-digit numbers in 18.71 seconds.

A video of his record-breaking performance shows him computing answers at a speed faster than a man using a calculator. As numbers flash on the screen, Shukla swiftly processes them in his mind, entering each answer with precise accuracy.

He attributes his success to dedicated practice, spending five to six hours daily on calculations and Sahaja Yoga meditation, which he says helps him maintain focus and composure. His mother recalls that his talent became evident when he was just six years old. “Since childhood, he was very good with numbers. He enjoyed studying and playing with numbers.

This human calculator could probably do mental math quicker than one could type it into calculator.

Aaryan left a large audience speechless when he set the record for the fastest time to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers on the set of Italian TV series Lo Show Dei Record.  He did that in a mere 25.19 seconds so approximately one addition every 0.5 seconds!

That was about a year ago and, since then, Aaryan has been practicing, competing and pushing his limits every day.

Regarding his daily routine, Aaryan said: Daily practice is one of the important aspects to prepare for competitions, so I practice for about five or six hours daily.

As a mental calculator who performs impossible sums at lightning speed, he often tries to explain what happens in his mind during those crucial moments.

A lot of things in mental calculations happen in a flash of a second, so I cannot say what happens inside my head, I just do it naturally. Basically, its so fast that you cant think, you just need to do the calculations.

Even though daily practice, on top of his school responsibilities, keeps him quite busy, Aaryan believes that to keep the balance, relaxing is important. Sahaja Yoga meditation helps me to keep calm and focused.

And for fun, Aaryan enjoys reading books, particularly adventure and mystery genres, playing video games and cricket.

I also love travelling and due to the mental Maths; I travel to many countries! Aaryans mum said: Since childhood, he was very good [] with numbers. He enjoyed studying and playing with numbers.

At the age of six he started the practice of mental calculation, and he was very good, so we started doing some research on this. At the age of eight we went for an international competition, and he won medals and trophies, which were great achievements.

Since then, Aaryan has gone on to become a world champion, and is even one of the founding board members of the Global Mental Calculators Association (GMCA).

When asked if he had any concerns about his sons unique abilities at such a young age, his dad responded: Aaryan enjoys numbers and mental calculations. We as parents have a role to make sure that he doesnt get overloaded or stressed when practicing.

But [being a world champion and record holder] now he has to carry some responsibility also. So, it is a balance between his age and his responsibilities. When you become such a great achiever at a young age, then you have to carry that responsibility at various stages and represent yourself and your country. – Aaryan’s dad. He added: In the last eight years of his journey he has achieved so much, so I think hes not only hardworking and talented, but hes also gifted by the destiny to learn so many things at such a young age.
