Nimrat Kaur, the Bollywood actress involved in controversies lately is in the headlines again. However, this time the reason is different. In an emotional moment, Nimrat inaugurated a war memorial as a tribute to her martyred father, Major Bhupinder Singh on his 72nd birthday. The inauguration ceremony took place at Rajasthan’s Ganganagar.
The actress’s father, Major Singh was a heroic officer of the Indian Army. He was killed while serving for Jammu and Kashmir by the terrorists on January 23, 1994.

The memorial ceremony celebrates Major Singh’s legacy, featuring a bronze bust of him. The event also honored the other twelve soldiers who sacrificed their lives along with Major. Present at the ceremony were Nimrat Kaur, her mother Avinash Kaur, and her sister Rubina Singh. Families of the other twelve martyred soldiers were also there.
The event also saw the presence of senior Indian Army officials, local administration representatives, and villagers. All of them paid their kind respects to the soldiers. The memorial is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by these fearless soldiers, located in a public square that is now renamed Major Bhupinder Singh Chowk.
Words of Gratitude by Nimrat Kaur to Her Father
Kaur shared this pleasant moment with her fans through her social media. She shared the event’s images expressing her gratitude and emotions. The actress captioned the post, “Today, on my father’s 72nd Birth Anniversary, a long-term dream for our family came true by inaugurating a war memorial dedicated to him and 12 other gallant martyrs all hailing from Papa’s hometown Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. May the supreme sacrifice of all these soldiers be remembered forever and inspire generations to come.”
The actress also recalled her fond moments with her father, that how her father raised her like ‘a son.’ She further added that her father taught her to be independent, and resilient and instilled in her the values of strength.
A Brief on Major Bhupinder Singh’s Martyrdom
On January 17, 1994, Major Singh was surveying his team’s construction projects, when terrorists attacked. Regardless of his unmatched courage, he was kidnapped by the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen group. Tragically a week later, he was killed by them. This memorial symbolizes his bravery and dedication that is alive within us. This also ensures that the sacrifice made by him and his fellow soldiers will not go in vain.
An Insight to Nimrat’s Recent Controversy
The Airlift actress has been the talk of the town regarding the circulating divorce rumors of Bollywood’s renowned couple, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
After the viral Reddit post that claims Abhishek cheated Aishwarya with his co-actor Nimrat, the actress is getting loads of flak from netizens. Abhishek and Nimrat worked together in a Bollywood movie Dasvi, which was released in 2020.
The post states that the closeness between the duo grew on the sets of Dasvi, causing troubles in the paradise of Aishwarya. Nonetheless, neither Abhishek nor Nimrat has yet reacted to any of the rumors.
