    Maha Vikas Aghadi Releases Manifesto for Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024

    On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), an alliance of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), released their party manifesto for the upcoming State Assembly Elections in Maharashtra 2024.

    The Maharashtra Assembly Elections will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, and the results will be announced on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

     The alliance was led by Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, alongside some prominent faces like Supriya Sule, Sanjay Raut, and Nana Patole. While unveiling the manifesto, Kharge highlighted the importance of defeating the Mahayuti government in the state and promoting the MVA for stability and good governance.

    This manifesto has been released following the party (MVA) announced its five guarantees at a joint rally on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The rally was attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Udhav Thackeray, Congress chief in Maharashtra Nana Patole, party leader Ramesh Chennithala, and some other leaders of the alliance.

    The Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance manifesto is titled “Maharashtra Nama.” It outlies several key promises and initiatives aimed to enhancing all the sectors of the society. These are part of MVA’s drive and vision for the progress of Maharashtra.

    Here are some highlights of MVA Manifesto 2024:

    Financial Assistance:

    • Monthly financial aid of Rs 3000 for women
    • Rs 4000 monthly allowance for unemployed
    • Debt Waiver of Up to Rs 3 lakh for farmers

    Employment and Industry:

    • Creation of around 1.25 million jobs over 5 years
    • Filling up 250,000 vacancies in the state government within 100 days

    Social Welfare:

    • Health Insurance Coverage for All Farmers
    • Free medicines
    • Subsidized cooking gas cylinders and electricity for poor residents

    Education and Youth:

    • Establishment of a Youth Commission
    • Introduction of a New Education Policy

    Women’s Welfare:

    • Free travel for women on state transport buses
    • Free cervical cancer vaccines for girls aged 9-16 years
    • Rs 100,000 for girls upon reaching over 18 years

    Agriculture and Rural Development:

    • Minimum Support Price on Vegetables Like Onion and Tomato Farmers
    • Development of a Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Corridor
    • Caste Censes:
    • Conducting a caste-based census and efforts to remove the 50% ceiling on reservations

    What are the Five Guarantees by MVA?

    The manifesto includes five guarantees, which were already described during a recent rally by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Five Guarantees by MVA, as mentioned in their manifesto, are:

    Mahalakshmi Yojana for women. Under which an amount of Rs 3,000 per month will be allocated to one woman in the family. Besides this, every woman will be entitled to free bus travel under the scheme.

    Further, the alliance also made a promise to waive the loans of all the indebted farmers up to Rs 3 lakhs. Besides this, they will also provide Rs 50,000 as incentives for regular loan repayments.

    The alliance also announced their plans to carry out a caste census and promised to work towards removing 50% bar on reservations.

    The Maha Vikas Aghadi Government will provide a health insurance of Rs 25 lakhs to all the families along with essential medicines, which will be provided free from the hospitals.

    Lastly, the party also guarantees to provide assistance of Rs 4000 to the unemployed youth in the state.

    What Mallikarjun Kharge said about the manifesto?

    On Sunday, the Congress Chief, Kharge, outlined the above five pillars, including the manifesto. he said that these are based on the progress and development of Maharashtra. “We have five pillars for the progress and development of Maharashtra based on farming and rural development, industry and employment, urban development, environment, and public welfare,” he added.

    Kharge also said guarantees will be helpful in the welfare of all the people in Maharashtra. Every family will receive an annual aid of about Rs 3.5 lakhs.

    Manifesto by Mahayuti Alliance?

    Additionally, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance released its manifesto earlier on the same day. It includes the multitude of assurances for the people of Maharashtra. Their manifesto includes promises such as an anti-conversion law, an increase in financial aid for women, job creation, and support for farmers.

    About the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024

    Among the alliance, the Congress will contest for around 103 seats, followed by Shiv Sena on 89 and the Nationalist Congress Party on 87 seats. The assembly elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 20. The votes will be counted on November 23.
