Amid the ongoing escalation between Israel and Lebanon, Hezbollah (Lebanon-backed Militant group) has fired at least 250 rockets and projectiles from Lebanon on Sunday, November 24, 2024. The Hezbollah said that the attack targeted areas including Tel Aviv and Ashdod Naval Base in Southern Israel.

Previous Attack carried out by Israel in Lebanon

The attack came after a massive Israeli airstrike was observed in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, that killed more than 25 people. According to Lebanese officials, the strike struck the country earlier in the day without any warning. They said that the strikes happened in an attempt to assassinate a senior Hezbollah official, Mohammad Haider.

Reportedly, the attack was heard and felt by citizens across the capital city. It destroyed an eight-story residential building in the densely populated Basta district. The Lebanese Health Ministry said that the attack has also left over 60 people wounded. It also said that the cases were expected to rise as DNA tests would be carried out on body parts that had been recovered.

Meanwhile, following the Israeli airstrike attack, Hezbollah has mounted the largest attack against Israel in response.

The Israeli military reported that waves of air raid sirens were heard on Sunday evening in the areas of Israel, including Tel Aviv and the hilltop of Safed. It said that there were around 250 projectiles (rockets) that were launched in the evening. Some of the projectiles were intercepted by the Israeli Air Defense Systems.

Largest Projectiles Attack carried out by Hezbollah

Hezbollah accepted that it had fired several salvos of rockets at Israel on Sunday, which targeted a military installation at Tel Aviv around 6:30 am. It was in response to the Israeli military targeting Beirut.

“An aerial attack using a swarm of attack drones on the Ashdod Naval Base in Southern Israel,” the militant group added.

Furthermore, it also announced that it has fired a barrage of advanced missiles and a swarm of drone attacks at a military target in Tel Aviv and launched missiles at the Glilot army intelligence base near the city. This attack reported the highest projectiles after September 24, 2024, which reported 350 rockets launched at Israel.

Later on, the Israeli military also carried out an attack of heavy barrages of airstrikes on the southern outskirts of Dahiya (a Shia Muslim suburb in Beirut, Lebanon) with fighter jets across Beirut.

In a statement, the Israeli military said its air force conducted several strikes on Hezbollah “command centers” in the area.

Ceasefire Negotiations Between Israel and Lebanon

Additionally, the cease-fire term between the two nations appears to be in the process of taking shape, as per several US officials. However, Israel and Lebanon said that they will keep on fighting as the negotiations continue.

Najib Mikati, Lebanon’s Prime Minister, expressed his grief and condemned the latest Israeli airstrike attack as an assault on US-led ceasefire efforts, calling it a “direct, bloody message rejecting all efforts and ongoing contacts” to end the war.
