Two childhood friends and former cricket stars, Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli, reunited at an unveiling of a memorial for the iconic cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar in Mumbai on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Cricket Coach Achrekar played a crucial role in shaping up both cricketers‘ cricketing careers.
Spotted together after so many years, Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli’s meeting turned out to be an emotional one. Kambli, who has been struggling with health issues for a long time, wasn’t even able to stand and hug Tendulkar properly. Still, both of them were able to share a warm moment, with a gazing smile on their faces,.
Their reunion also sparked a lot of curiosity and concern among fans, after a video surfacing over the internet has shown Tendulkar greeting Kambli, who was looking somewhere else. At first, it was hard for Kambli to recognize Sachin, but soon, he recognized him, and held Tendulkar’s hand firmly, insisting to sit beside him. Within a moment, another acquaintance came and told him not to force Sachin. As Sachin Tendulkar left, Vinod Kambli looked upset after the meeting.
Tendulkar seemed to be in a rush as he had to sit with MNC (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) chief Raj Thackeray. The surfacing video captured significant attention from netizens. Some noticed how Vinod Kambli wasn’t able to recognize his old mate. “Omg, this is so sad… Vinod didn’t recognize him,” a user stated.

In February 2023, he was accused of assaulting his second wife, Andrea Hewitt under the influence of Alcohol. Kambli’s separation with first wife, Neolla Lewis was also marked with similar reasons. The couple got married in 1998 and after some time parted their ways.
His last appearance was in an ODI against Sri Lanka on September 14, 2000, after which he never returned to the Indian national team. In 2009, Vinod Kambli officially announced his retirement from international cricket.
