Bollywood often surprises us by stepping away from its usual melodramatic movies. Rajesh A Krishnan’s latest film, ‘Crew’, does just that. This crime comedy is a bumper package of humor, glamour, a hint of mischief, and a refreshing twist in Indian cinema.
The three flight attendants- Geeta Sethi (played by the versatile Tabu), Jasmine Kohli (portrayed by Dazzling Bebo; Kareena Kapoor), and Divya Rana (played by talented Kriti Sanon), work for Kohinoor Airlines. Beyond serving in-flight meals, they also serve looks, hospitality, and a dash of mischief.
When their debt-ridden airline faces bankruptcy, these hustlers hatch an adventurous plan: gold smuggling. The story becomes an exciting journey filled with laughter, strong bonds between crew friends (camaraderie), surprising turns of events, and unexpected twists.
Bonds grow through collective misery
In the movie ‘Crew’, the three-air hostess shares an emotional bond formed through collective misery. Their circumstances taught them unconventional survival strategies, including resorting to crime. As they navigate into the world of smuggling, their camaraderie grows stronger, and their experiences keep the audience engaged.
Smooth take-off but bumpy landing
The first half of the film is a smooth ride; however, the second half of the film takes the story to the next level keeping the viewers engaged. The climax does not upto expectations. The heist part isn’t super clever, but that’s what makes the film charming keeping the audience hooked.
The crew doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the character’s carefree approach to life provides plenty of humor. Their plans might not be perfect, but they have the style and attitude of runway models.
Crew adventurous trailer
If you haven’t watched the trailer for the movie ‘Crew’, buckle your seats for a short adventurous ride, and you can watch the full movie for full adventurous and dazzling crime comedy vacation.
The upper middle-class dilemma
Beyond its bubbly and sparkling exterior, ‘Crew‘ takes a lighthearted approach and explores the upper middle class. It showcases how they deal with money, ethics, and monotonous jobs. Geeta’s wise words,” Adarshon Se Bill Nahi Barte,” will resonate with many. Film’s leading ladies, all in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, broke stereotypes and proved that being inclusive at any age can be natural and fun.
Male characters also stood out
Even though the ‘Crew’ film’s focus is mostly on the dazzling female actors, male characters like Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, and veteran actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda stand out. They were not just the background artists, but they added some extra spice to the story.
Crew, the movie takes off smoothly but had a bumpy landing, leaving us wanting more of these delightful shifts in Bollywood. Kareena Kapoor’s talent shines as she effortlessly switches to comedy. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the journey!
