    Tragedy Strikes: Seven-Year-Old Crushed to Death Inside School Premises in Ludhiana

    In a tragic accident at BCM (Bahadur Chand Munjal) school, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana, a seven-year-old girl was crushed to death by a bus on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was identified as Amayra, a first-grade school student.

    On Monday morning, the girl reached the school premises, she lost her balance while alighting from the bus, coming under the bus’s rear tyre. She sustained severe head injuries, including her face and eyes being crushed off completely. Following the incident, she was immediately rushed to Fortis Hospital by the school staff, where she has been pronounced dead.

    Family Accuses School of Negligence

    The victim was a resident of Bhamia Road. Upon hearing the news, the girl’s family rushed to the school. But the school authorities didn’t let them inside. The family members have accused the school authorities of locking their gates from inside. They alleged that they were allowed to enter only after a commotion.

    “This is gross negligence by the school authorities. How can a child be left in such a vulnerable position? Their attempt to shut the gates and block us from entering is unacceptable,” a family member said.

    Police Reaches the Spot

    Meanwhile, the police arrived at the scene immediately to handle the situation and calmed the protesting parents. ACP Sumit Sood confirmed that the incident took place inside the school premises. The CCTV and bus details have been seized for investigation.

    In the investigation, it was confirmed that the bus involved in the accident was not owned by the school. “The bus involved in the accident is private, not owned by the school. The driver and conductor are being identified, and their details are being traced through the transport office,” ACP Sood reported.

    What BCM Principal Said?

    The BCM School Principal, DP Guleria, said that the bus involved in the accident was private and was not owned by the school. “The child lost balance while alighting and came under the tire. The bus driver and conductor are present, and we’ve handed over all documents to the police. We are fully cooperating with the investigation,” he further stated.

    Meanwhile, the incident has raised serious concerns about the safety protocols in schools, particularly on the operation of school buses. Residents have urged stricter guidelines to be launched for the protection of children by the school management.
