    Bengaluru Techie Suicide: Atul Subhash’s Accused Wife and In-Laws Arrested

    In a recent development in the Bengaluru techie’s suicide case, Atul Subhash’s wife, mother-in-law and brother-in-law have been arrested by the police on Sunday, December 15, 2024. They have been detained by the police on the charges of abetment.

    Nikita Singhania was apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana, while her mother and brother were arrested in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. A senior Police officer confirmed that they were produced in court and were sent to judicial custody.

    Notably, Nikita Singhania and her family demanded INR crore to withdraw false cases against Atul Subhash. They also demanded INR 30 lakh for visitation rights to see his son.

    Recent Developments

    The arrest of Subhash’s in-laws came after they flee from their residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district. According to the reports, surveillance footage and eyewitnesses have said that they left their residence on Wednesday night.

    The accused, identified as Nisha Singhania and her son Anurag Alias Piyush Singhania, left their home in the Jaunpur’s Khowa Mandi area on a motorcycle. They were seen around 1 am and have not returned. Police and authorities have been working on tracking their location, but their current location has remained unknown.

    The Uttar Pradesh Police have confirmed on Thursday that they had not received any official communication from Karnataka authorities regarding the case. “We are yet to receive any official communication from the Bengaluru Police over this case,” Police Superintendent Ajaypal Sharma said. He also said that the police deployment in the area remains routine, with no special orders regarding the accused.

    The Kotwali Inspector, Mitilesh Mishra, has also confirmed that no directives were issued for the arrest of Subash’s mother-in-law, Nisha Singhania, to prevent her from her home or place under house arrest.

    About the Case?

    The 34-year-old software engineer Atul Subhash took his life at his residence in Marathahalli, Bengaluru. The deceased left a 24-page suicide note and posted a one-and-a-half-hour video of himself on December 9th before taking this step.

    He was found in a hanging state in his apartment by his neighbours in Manjunath Layout. A placard with the words stating, Justice is Due, alongside a 24-year-old suicide note, was found at the spot. The software engineer, Atul Subhash, accused his wife, Nikita Singhania, and the judge for the reason for suicide.

    Bikas Kumar, Subhash’s brother, filed an FIR against Subhash’s wife, Nikita Singhania; her mother, Nisha Singhania; her brother, Anurag; and her uncle, Sushil Singhania. The charges include persuasion to suicide and joint criminal liability.

    Atul Subhash alleged that his wife and in-laws, and a judge in Uttar Pradesh, have been harassing him. His wife charged him with nine bogus cases and demanded an unreasonable maintenance amount of INR 3 crores.

    In the suicide notes, Atul has also mentioned that his wife has filed dowry harassment and domestic violence against him and his family. He claimed that his wife’s family had plotted a big conspiracy against him to extort money by alleging false cases.
