    PM Modi Awarded Highest Civilian Award, Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, in Kuwait

    As Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues his historic visit to Kuwait, he was given a grand ceremonial welcome and the guard of honor at the Bayan Palace on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

    This ceremonial welcome was followed by talks with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince and Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and with his Kuwaiti counterpart.

    Day-2 Highlights of PM Modi’s Visit

    On Day 2 of his visit, PM Modi was also awarded the “Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer,” the highest award in Kuwait, by Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Notably, this is the 20th international honor received by PM Modi since his tenure in 2014.

    The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer is a prestigious honor awarded by the state of Kuwait. The award is named after Mubarak Al Sabah, the seventh ruler of Kuwait. The award is typically bestowed upon those who have made significant contributions to Kuwait or made notable achievements in their field.

    About PM Modi’s visit to Kuwait

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his two-day visit to Kuwait on Saturday, December 21, 2024. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 43 years. The aim of the visit was to strengthen their bilateral ties across various sectors, including trade, defense, and energy cooperation.

    Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, posted on X, informing about the official visit of the Prime Minister. “PM Narendra Modi arrives at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait to a ceremonial welcome and guard of honor. Warmly received by HH Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, PM of the nation,” he noted.

    The PM was invited by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah. He also held bilateral talks with him and Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, besides an interaction with the Indian Diaspora.

    PM Modi Hails Ties Between India and Kuwait

    During his visit to the nation, the Indian Prime Minister spoke to the Kuwaiti media and stated that India and Kuwait share multifaceted ties rooted in history, culture, and mutual respect.

    “Our strong relations extend across energy, trade, and investments. We also have a vibrant Indian diaspora strengthening the friendship further,” PM stated.

    In an interview with the Kuwait news agency, PM Modi also stressed and reaffirmed India’s support for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine and the creation of a sovereign, independent state of Palestine.

    Mentioning the Indian diaspora, he also stated that the community acts as a living bridge between the two countries.

    Modi Attends Opening Ceremony of Arabian Gulf Cup

    Prime Minister Modi also attended the opening of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as the chief guest at the Jaber Al-Ahmed International Stadium here. The Prime Minister accompanied the Emir of Kuwait, Crown Prince, and his Kuwaiti counterpart for the opening ceremony. The biennial Arabian Gulf Cup is being hosted by the nation. There were a total of eight countries that participated in it, including GCC nations, Iraq, and Korea.
