A shocking bus drama in Pune, Maharashtra is amassing much attention on social media. The event unfolded as a Pune woman fiercely confronted a man who reportedly tried to touch her inappropriately. Refusing to ignore the act, the woman stood up and slapped an inebriated man approx. 25 times. The incident also sparked significant debate on the internet where one side questioned women’s safety in public spaces and others questioned her ‘taking-law-in-her-hands’.
The Whole Incident of Pune Woman Slapping the Man
The 2.05-minute-long video captures a Pune woman slapping the man 26 times after he attempted to touch her inappropriately while sitting next to her. The clip shows the woman accusing the man of being heavily drunk and allegedly trying to harass her. The man repeatedly apologizes denying the allegations. The heated exchange between the duo swiftly garnered public attention.
Watch the video here: Reports cited that the woman is identified as Priya Lashkare. She is a sports teacher in a school in Shirdi and was travelling with her husband and son. The reports also noted that the woman demanded to stop the bus at the nearest police station. Following the incident, the man was taken to the police chowki near Shaniwarwada.
Mixed Reactions from the Public
Although the incident was resolved without legal consequences, it highlighted the broader issues related to women safety in public transport. The internet now is also divided into two parts, where one supporting the woman and calling her a brave lady. The other section however, opposed the woman’s actions for taking law in her hands.

However, if we look at the story through another angle, it is crucial to understand that such vigilantism is not normal or acceptable in a civilized society. While her actions may drive out impulsively, taking the law into one’s own hands breaks the principles of law.
