    Now its Hudges in Los Angeles Causing 50000 People to Evacuate

    California has been witnessing wildfires since the start of January with the Eaton and Palisades fires destroying about 14000 structures and leading to the loss of several lives. On Wednesday afternoon heavy winds were blowing at 42mph, which further increased to 60 mph. This led to the burst of Hudges fire in the northern mountains of Los Angeles, leading to the evacuation of over 50,000 residents of Southern California. The wildfire spread through the parched vegetation and lands that further expanded to the nearby regions due to strong winds expelling heavy smoke.

    Where Did It Start?

    The wildfire first started near Lake Castaic, located about 64 kilometers from already devastated areas by the Eaton and Palisade fires. This area is a recreational spot for people to relax and chill.  About 39 square kilometers of area has been destroyed by the fire within hours of its outbreak. This initially caused around 31,000 people to evacuate their homes with the remaining 23000 residents under warnings of evacuation, according to the LA Country Sheriff Robert Luna.

    Battles Of the Firefighters

    The LA Country Fire Chief Antony Marrone has revealed that it has been a tough battle for the firefighters and the wildfire has been extremely challenging. Some progress has been made as he stated, ” Firefighters are getting the upper hand”. As the fires spread from the mountains to the lands, five interstate roads connecting the north-Soth routes of California was shut down to prevent people from using such roads as warnings have been posted on the X page of the National Weather Service that the situation could remain dangerous for several days,

    Residents Terrified

    As the fire approached the residential areas the residents rushed to protect their homes and various other valuables from the fire. . The residents of that area were all in a stressful state of mind as there were Evacuations going on and the properties and valuables have to be safeguarded from the fire. The sudden burst out of fire has saddened the lives of the people within seconds.

    It’s Rain After Fire

    The fire got under control after a lot of struggle and now California should prepare for another threat that is coming their way which is Rain. The National Weather Service has predicted that gusty winds on Wednesday afternoon which could cause rains in certain areas and there are possibilities of mudslides too. Regarding this Supervisor Kathryn Barger Said, ” Rain is in the forecast, and the threat of mud and debris flows in our fire-impacted communities is very real”. Some residents were allowed to return where the fire came under control near the Pacific Palisades and Altadena however the officials continue to monitor the hotspots to find any reignition of the fire and California has been given strict fire warnings till Friday morning.

    Other Concerns

    Santa Ana winds have started blowing over the areas of Southern California raising concerns about the impact of ash and air quality. The citizens have been urged by the LA mayor to check the city’s website for guidelines on how to protect themselves from toxic air. LA Country’s public health director highlighted that the ashes from the fire could contain harmful materials such as heavy metals and arsenic Even slight exposure to the ashes could lead to skin irritation and other serious health problems, an official said. While the battle of Eaton and Palisades fire just ended, Hudges fire is leading to fear and evacuation. Firefighters have kept their heads high in controlling the fires and saving several lives and the officials remain on high alert to protect the people from any upcoming danger.
