US President Donald Trump has promised to end the Ukraine war and, as promised, stated that he is ready to have talks with Russian President Putin about it. Still, Ukraine seems to have different thoughts about it. Ukraine has recently accused Russian President Putin of trying to manipulate Trump in the name of peace negotiations by having negotiations on his terms without any input from Ukraine.
Accusations From Ukraine
The head of the Presidential office at Kyiv, Andiry Yermak stated ” [Putin] wants to decide Europe’s fate without Europe and he seeks to talk about Ukraine without Ukraine, warning that Russia was trying to promote bilateral negotiations with the United States over a war which Kremlin started.” Later Ukrainian President also accused Putin of manipulating the President over peace negotiations. Regarding this, he stated “He wants to manipulate the desire of the President of the United States to achieve peace,” Zelenskyy said during his daily evening address on social media but added that he was “confident that no Russian manipulations will succeed anymore.”
Putin’s Green Signal for Negotiations
Ukraine has raised these accusations against Putin after he discussed ready-to-talk negotiations with Trump with a media outlet. He stated, “It is probably better for us to meet and, based on today’s realities, talk calmly about all areas that are of interest to both the US and Russia,” he told Russian state television, claiming: “We have always said, and I want to emphasize this once again, that we are ready for these negotiations on Ukrainian issues.” Putin praised Trump as a “‘Smart” and ” Pragmatic” leader and agreed that if he had won the 2020 elections then the Ukraine war crisis would have never happened.
Russia-Ukraine War
The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty was signed by the Ukrainian government that dismantle the use of nuclear weapons in harmful ways assuring it to be used safely in return for security guidance from Russia. The Russia-Ukraine relations were cordial until the Russian military forces invaded Georgia in August 2008 and took control of certain regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia to attain political objectives.
In 2013, Ukraine’s Parliament approved signing an association agreement with the European Union, but Russia has been pressurizing it not to do so and the then President of Ukraine withdrew from signing the agreement to maintain a relationship with Russia leading to a huge war that destroyed many lives in February 2014.
The economic interests of Russia over the control of lithium and being on top in the trading market were also cited as one of the reasons for the war. The war led to a huge financial loss of money and resources that Russia could have never foreseen according to various reports that have been published. US President Donald Trump after taking office said that he would end the Ukraine war as he takes charge after having discussions with Russian President Putin but while speaking on Wednesday, he was seen giving threats and warnings to Russian Business Elites of imposing high tariffs if the war does not come to an end
