Eating healthy and avoiding junk foods helps us lead a healthier life. Eating healthy has been highlighted recently by our Prime Minister Modi at the 38th National Games opening ceremony.

PM Modi has urged people to minimize the use of edible oil to escape obesity. Regarding this, he said, ” Every age group of the country and even the youth are being badly affected by it. And it is also a matter of concern as it increases the risk of diabetes and heart diseases”

    Modi’s Strict Advice

While speaking at the event, he asked everyone to reduce the oil intake and to have a balanced and nutritious diet. He also told to work out daily and to have a planned schedule to tackle obesity. He strictly discouraged the use of edible oils.

    Reduce Oil Intake By 10%

PM Modi urged people to reduce the oil intake by 10 per cent every day. He said that if you are getting 2 liters of oil this month, reduce it by 10% next month. Slowly and gradually reduce the intake of oil by 10%.

Other Experts Also Reveal the Same

Not only Modi but other experts have also advised to minimize the oil intake to not have obesity problems. According to Dr Vineeth Kumar Surana, adding excess oil to your food can add hidden calories to your intake which will ultimately lead to excess weight gain. He has advised not to consume more than 600 to 700 ml of oil in a month

Dr Anoop Misra stated that People consume double the amount of oil than recommended. He added that many people reuse oil which is quite dangerous for people’s health. He said ” Reusing oil for frying food items leads to an increase in trans-fats that are known to increase the risk of heart diseases and diabetes”

    Quality is Important

According to ICMR, apart from quantity, quality of the oil is very important. It requests people to use a combination of blended oils such as Groundnut oil, Sunflower oil, and soybean oil. Sources suggested that the government is looking to initiate appropriate steps to tackle the potential crisis posed by the usage of oil.

Eating healthy and being fit will lead to a beneficial life for us as well as for the country. A recent economic survey has warned that unhealthy food habits will not only lead to an increase in non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, but it is also a threat to the economic potential of the country. According to this survey, today’s working-age population should have skills and good health. Unhealthy food habits will lead to unhealthy lifestyles that could become a threat to the economic potential of the country, the survey stated.
