    NTA cancels NET Examination; Is NTA Losing its Credibility Among Students?

    The National Testing Agency (NTA) faced controversy by abruptly canceling the UGC NET for June 2024. The cancellation came hours after the exam ended. Announced on 19th June by the Ministry of Education, the decision cited concerns about exam integrity. This move caused widespread disappointment and frustration among the 9 lakh affected candidates.

    Previous Controversy regarding NEET 

    The cancellation comes amidst mounting grievances against the National Testing Agency (NTA), already under legal scrutiny for alleged mismanagement and irregularities in other exams like NEET UG 2024. The Ministry of Education’s statement referred to inputs from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), indicating potential compromises in exam integrity. Such developments have severely questioned the NTA’s capability to conduct exams effectively, with students and stakeholders expressing dismay over recurring issues ranging from delayed admit cards to inadequate facilities at exam centers. 

    Students, anticipating a breakthrough in their academic careers, now face uncertainty and stress. Hoping for a good results after the exam, the exam cancellation came as a shock and now students are under pressure to resume their preparations again.

    Furthermore, allegations of malpractice surfaced, with reports of attempted paper leaks and fraudulent activities during the exam. An aspirant from Delhi said to the media, “I was offered the examination paper in two lakhs, but I refused.”
