Watching movies in theatres has always been an exciting experience, especially when an actor like Vicky Kaushal graces the screen with his compelling performance. However, an unfortunate incident disrupted the cinematic experience for fans of the recently released movie Chhaava in New Delhi.

On Wednesday evening, a fire broke out during a film screening at a PVR Cinemas theatre in Select Citywalk Mall, causing panic among the audience. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly resolved, and no casualties were reported.

    Fire Breaks Out During Screening

The incident took place on Wednesday at around 5:44 PM during the 4:15 PM show of Chhaava. According to reports, a corner of the theatre screen caught fire, creating a moment of panic and chaos. Witnesses present at the scene stated that, initially, many moviegoers believed the fire to be part of a dramatic sequence from the film. However, as smoke started billowing inside the hall, the audience quickly realized the severity of the situation.

A video capturing the incident surfaced on social media, showing people reacting in panic as flames became visible. A Delhi Fire Services spokesperson confirmed that six fire engines were dispatched to the location immediately after receiving the distress call. Firefighters acted promptly and managed to douse the fire within ten minutes.

    Quick Response Prevents Major Disaster

As soon as the fire alarm was triggered, the cinema hall staff sprang into action, instructing all audience members to evacuate the premises swiftly. Veer Singh, a witness present during the screening, told PTI, “At first, I thought it was part of the movie. But when people started screaming and the fire alarm went off, we realized it was real. Thankfully, the staff was quick to respond and guided everyone out safely.”

The fire was reportedly caused by a short circuit in an adjacent multiplex hall, which led to a portion of the screen catching fire. A mall representative later released a statement confirming the cause of the incident and assured the public that they were working closely with the multiplex management to restore normalcy. Additionally, the mall’s routine operations remained unaffected by the fire.
