The dilapidated track of the railway Ganga bridge is set to be repaired. As the bridge’s iron sheets (trough) have melted, H-beam sleepers will now be placed on the up track. The Railways has prepared a plan to complete the work by undertaking a mega block of nine hours daily from 8 am to 5 pm for 42 days from March 20 to April 30.
As per the notification issued by the Railways, more than 700 trains will be affected due to the mega block and 172 trains have been completely cancelled.
As per DRM Sachindra Mohan Sharma, starting from March 20, a mega block of 9 hours daily will be taken on the up track of the Rail Ganga Bridge for 42 days, and the old trough will be removed, and new H-beam sleepers will be laid. Due to this mega block, more than 700 trains are likely to be affected due to cancellation, route change, brief closure and time change.
From 20 March, Northern Railway will start the work of removing the steel trough and installing H-beam sleepers on the up line on bridge number 110 between CPB-Kanpur Central. During this time, the route of many trains on the Lucknow-Kanpur rail route has also been changed.

According to the schedule released by the Railways, the routes of many important trains have also been changed, including 12571 Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Humsafar Express, 12595 Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Humsafar Express, 22539 Mau-Anand Vihar Superfast Express and 12003 Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi Express. These trains will be run via Lucknow-Moradabad-Ghaziabad route.
There will also be a change in the timing of some trains: 12104 Lucknow-Pune Express, 16094 Lucknow-Chennai Express and 12535 Lucknow-Raipur Garib Rath Express will be delayed.
