    Harmanpreet Singh: Son of Punjab is Now Flavor of the Nation

    The penalty corner specialist and one of the best drag flickers in the world, Harmanpreet Singh was born on January 6, 1996, in the village of Timmowal, Amritsar, Punjab. As the Indian Hockey team brings home a bronze successively after Tokyo Olympics, Harmanpreet is now the pride of not only Punjab but entire India.  

    Career Beginnings  

    He became interested in hockey since childhood and displayed very good skills from a tender age. Harmanpreet got a chance to represent the Indian national team in 2014. In fact, he soon gained prominence in the team because of his striking ability with the penalty corners. In particular, the players showcased outstanding moments in the 2018 FIH Hockey World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro. 

    Tokyo Olympics 2020 

    But it was the Olympics held in Tokyo in the year 2020 that gave Harmanpreet a chance to write his own history of hockey. His brilliant performances helped the Indians to win a bronze medal  to break the 41-year Olympics medal less streak. The way he performed during the tournaments indicated that under pressure he could give his best, and this was appreciated.

    Paris Olympics 2024

    Harmanpreet Singh is the captain of this year India’s men hockey team. He was a leader with outstanding results in the tournament.  India won bronze medal, earning the country’s second consecutive Olympic medal in the sport.

    Hockey India has announced a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh for each player.  

    Noting this splendid triumph Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has declared to give 15 lakh rupees to each player of India’s men hockey team. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that his government would award a cash prize of Rs 1 crore to each hockey player from the state who was part of the Indian men’s team. 

     
    Among the present-day players, Harmanpreet Singh is well regarded for his excellent prowess and as strong captaincy.  Thus, talent and hard work prove that he has a promising future ahead.
