As Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 74 on Tuesday, some Bhartiya Janta Party leaders extended their birthday wishes to him and praised his leadership. To mark the occasion PM Modi visited Odisha, where he inaugurated the key welfare schemes, including Subhadra Yojana and the PM Awas Yojana in Bhubaneswar.
Subhadra Awas Yojana
The Subhadra Awas Yojana is the financial assistance scheme that will provide Rs 10,000 to over 1 Crore to poor women every year. This Scheme is designed to empower women in Odisha by providing them with financial assistance, especially to those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 21-60 years old
- Annual Income: Less than Rs 1,80,000
- Residency: Must be a Resident of Odisha
- Bank Account: Must have an Adhar-linked bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
Financial Assistance
The Eligible women under the scheme will receive Rs 10,000 per year, disbursed in two installments of Rs 5,000 each. The Payments will be made on Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day (March 8) over five years.
Direct Benefit Transfer
The funds will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ Aadhar-linked bank accounts.
Additional Incentives
An Extra Rs 5000 will be given to the 100 beneficiaries with the most digital transactions in each gram panchayat and urban local body region.
Aim
The scheme aims to uplift nearly one crore women in Odisha, ensuring financial stability and empowerment.
PM Awas Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a flagship housing initiative by the Government of India. It aimed at providing affordable homes to the Urban poor. It was launched on June 25, 2015, the scheme has two main components including PMAY-Urban (PMAY-U) and (PMAY-G).
About PMAY-Urban
Aim
To ensure a pucca house for all eligible urban households by 2022
Beneficiaries
Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG), and Middle-Income Group (MIG) categories, including slum dwellers.
Subsidy
The houses will be provided through the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) which provides interest subsidies on home loans for eligible beneficiaries.
About PMAY-Gramin
Aim
To provide a pucca house with all basic amenities to all houseless and those living in kutcha houses in rural areas.
Beneficiaries
Identified through the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data.
Financial Assistance
Rs 1.2 Lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.3 lakh in hilly, difficult, and Integrated Action Plan (IAP) areas.
