    Who is Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s Leader targeted by Israeli Strikes?

    In a significant turn of events, Israel sought to blow targets against Hezbollah by launching several strikes at the Hezbollah’s headquarters in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut on Friday.

    The attack also includes the use of powerful bunker-buster bombs to destroy the underground command center. The attack was launched at the time when Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, Chief of an Iran-backed terror group was present inside the building.

    The Israeli Military confirmed that Hezbollah‘s leader was eliminated. However, Later, the sources revealed that Nasrallah was alive. Nasrallah was unreachable following Israel’s strikes on Beirut’s Southern Suburbs on Friday evening, as per Reuters reports.

    Meanwhile, Hezbollah had not made any statement about Nasrallah. According to the Health Ministry of Lebanon, at least six people were killed and over 90 were left injured.

    The Israeli airstrikes also destroyed a total of six buildings in the Southern Suburb of Harek Hreik in Beirut. This marked the most significant attack in the Lebanese Capital held nearly after a war erupted between Israel and Hezbollah

    Who is Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah?

    Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah is the leader of Lebanon’s Militant Shia Islamist Hezbollah movement. He is one of the most influential figures in the Middle East.

    Over the years, he has remained unseen in public because of fears of being assassinated by the Israeli Military. He was an unidentified man with strong ties to Iran who was instrumental in transforming Hezbollah into the political and armed organization it is today. He is still revered by the group’s supporters.

    Nasrallah’s Contributions to Hezbollah

    Nasrallah-led Hezbollah has played a significant role in supplying Iran with missiles and rockets to be used against Israel and trained militants from the Palestinian armed group Hamas as well as militias in Iraq and Yemen.

    Born in a poor Shiite family in Beirut, Lebanon in 1960, Hassan Nasrallah spent his early days of life in Beirut’s eastern Bourj Hammoud neighborhood. He was the eldest of 9 siblings in the family and his father Abdul Karim was a small greengrocer.

    Nasrallah transformed Hezbollah into a major political force in Lebanon, influencing the country’s significant politics. Hezbollah also provides extensive social services, including health and education, which bolstered its support base.

    His leadership has been marked by persistent resistance against Israel. Hezbollah’s actions led to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Southern Lebanon in 2000 after an 18-year occupation. In 1997, he also suffered the personal loss of his eldest son Hadi. He was killed in a firefight against Israel.

    In 2006, Hezbollah’s kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers led to a devastating 34-day war against Israel. The war widened the standing of Hezbollah in the Lebanon and the region, even after it led to the destruction and loss of life.
