    Historic Feat: Virat Kohli Becomes Fastest Player to Score 27,000 International Runs

    In a groundbreaking achievement, the Indian International Cricketer Virat Kohli has left a significant benchmark in Indian Cricket History by becoming the fastest player to score 27,000 runs in International Cricket.

    Notably, the cricketer has touched the milestone in just 594 innings. He successfully surpassed the previous record of Indian Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved this feat in 623 innings.

    With this remarkable achievement, India has established a new record for the quickest team fifty, hundred, and double hundred in Test Cricket. Virat Kohli has now become the overall fourth cricketer to score more than 27000 runs internationally after Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Pointing (Australian cricketer and Captain), and Kumar Sangakkara (SriLankan Cricketer).

    The former Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli marked this success during the fourth day of the second Test against Bangladesh held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium.

    • India’s Batting: Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul both scored the half-centuries. Jaiswal scored 72 off 51 balls, Rahul scored 68 off 43 balls. Virat Kohli also made a notable contribution, collecting 47 runs off 35 balls.
    • India’s Record-Breaking Performance: India sets records for the fastest team fifty, hundred, and double hundred in Test Cricket. They achieved the fastest 50 in just 2.6 overs, the fastest 100 in just 10.1 overs and continued to break the record by making 250 in 30.1 overs.
    • Bangladesh’s Response: Bangladesh has bowled out for 233 in the first innings, with Mominul Haque scoring an unbeatable century. In the second innings, Bangladesh is at 146/4, with Mominul Haque as the leading charge with a solid 61 runs.

    Till now, Kohli has accumulated an impressive 13,906 runs in 295 ODIs, along with 8918 runs in Test Cricket. Before he retired from the T20 test series, he hoarded 4,188 runs, making him one of the top run scorers in the format.

    • Double Centuries: Kohli holds 6 double centuries as a Test Captain, surpassing Brain Lara’s (West Indies Former Cricketer) record of five.
    • World Cup Records: He also holds the record of scoring most runs in single edition of ODI World Cups.
