    T20 Women’s World Cup 2024: Social Media buzzes as Pakistan Struggles with Bat against India

    As the Indian Women’s Cricket team restricted Pakistan with a low score of 105 for 8, social media got flooded with reactions from Cricket fans, commenting on Pakistan’s batting struggles. It was the second match of the T20 Women’s World Cup 2024 that took place between India and Pakistan on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Dubai International Stadium.

    Indian pacer Arundhati and Spinner Shreyanka Patil were the chief architects of Pakistan’s low score. Notably, Pakistan’s struggle began right from the first over of the match. The team lost their first wicket on the last ball of the opening over. India’s Renuka Singh’s impressive balling sent back Pakistan’s Gull Feroza with no runs.

    The loss made it hard for the team to recover. The team concluded their game in just 105 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.

    Fans Troll Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team

    Meanwhile, the fans on social media pointing to the team’s batting struggles, drew several comparisons between the performances of the Pakistan Women’s and Men’s team. They left the internet in splits by suggesting that the women’s team was inspired by the men’s team.

    A user commented, “Every year, every match, same results and same situation of Pakistan team”.

    “Same Energy, No Differences, Woman Babar Azam,” another user mentioned.

    “Women of Pakistan are also playing Cricket like men of Pakistan,” another added.

    India’s Performance against Pakistan

    After a dreadful commencement to the T20 World Cup campaign against New Zealand, the team faced a loss of 58 runs, leaving Indian players to ponder their missed opportunities. This was the much-needed win over Pakistan on Sunday. India led to beat Pakistan by 6 wickets in the second match. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues led India to victory.

    While chasing the target of 106 runs, the Indian batters had a tough start. Eventually, the team picked up the pace in the latter half of the match. 

    India’s pacer, Arundhati Reddy was named as the ‘Player of the Match’ for taking three wickets. The other players including Shreyanka Patil picked two wickets, and Renuka Singh, Deepti Sharma, and Asha Sobhana captured one wicket each.

    The team scored 108 for 4 in 18.5 overs, with Shafali Verma as the top scorer with 32 off 35 balls. Harmanpreet Kaur contributed a crucial 29 runs off 24 balls. Despite the slow start, India managed to clinch triumph and secure a six-wicket win.

    Pakistan’s Performance

    From Pakistan’s side, Fatima Sana picked two wickets, while Sadia Iqbal and Omaina Sohail took one wicket each.

    While on the batting front, Nida Dar was the top scorer with 28 runs off 34 balls, while Muneeba Ali contributed 17 runs.

    India set to face Sri Lanka in the Next Match

    India will play with Sri Lanka in the next match of the T20 Women’s World Cup 2024 on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
