The historic third consecutive victory of the BJP in the Haryana Assembly elections, mirrors the era of the 1990’s when PM Narendra Modi began his first political innings.

He took over the role of BJP’s General Secretary in Haryana, showcasing his ability to build and sustain his party’s presence in the state. He was vital to expand BJP’s footprint and establish a strong organizational structure. His notable contributions include mobilizing community support and boosting the morale of party cadres.

Modi connected with the local people through various rallies and public engagements. He often referred to Haryana as his ‘second home’ as he worked there till 1999.

He played a pivotal role in establishing BJP dominance in the state over the past years. The Haryana Assembly elections 2024 are the latest additions to his triumphs.

BJP achieved victory winning 48 out of 90 seats. This win allowed them to form the government once again, with Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Ministers. On the other hand, Congress won 37 seats, making a substantial improvement from their current government. But still falling short of forming a government.

Marking the state’s third successive win in the Assembly elections 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “It is the victory of politics of development and good governance”. He further also hailed the National Conference (NC) for their impressive performance in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls.

Taking to his X, PM Modi wrote, “Heartfelt gratitude to Haryana! I salute the people of Haryana for giving a clear majority to the Bhartiya Janata Party once again. This victory allowed them to form the governance independently. The incumbent Congress government, led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda secured 15 seats and the Indian National Lok Dal got 27 seats.

In 2019, the Haryana assembly elections resulted in a hung assembly, in which no party security majority seats. The Bhartiya Janta Party won 40 seats out of the 90-member assembly, falling short of 6 seats. Their vote share was 36.49%. The Congress secured 31 seats, with a share was 28.08%.

The BJP then allied with the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), which was led by Dushyant Chautala. He emerged victorious by securing 10 seats. This alliance enabled Manohar Lal Khattar to continue as Chief Minister, with Dushyant Chautala becoming the deputy Chief minister.
