Laxman, who held the position of the party president of the OBC Morcha since 2020, is also a member of the Central Election Committee (CEC), responsible for making crucial electoral decisions.     Nadda has been at the helm since January 2020, and his prolonged-term is intended to facilitate a smoother leadership transition. According to the party’s constitution, the party president generally serves a three-year term and is usually elected by consensus.

Leading candidates include Vinod Tawde, Devendra Fadnavis, Bhupendra Yadav, Sanjay Joshi, Sudha Verma, Arun Singh, and Sunil Bansal. Notably, party insiders suggest that this time, the selection for the new party president may be from OBCs, SCs, or women. This selection will send a strong message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
