The Delhi assembly elections are taking an unexpected turn as the BJP has frossed almost half the way to win the battle securing about 36 seats out of the 70 constituencies. Well, the major question arises now as to who would become the Chief Minister of the BJP party if the BJP wins the Delhi Assembly elections this time.
The opposition party AAPhas already raised criticisms of the BJP for not announcing the CM face of the party. When the BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva was asked regarding the same on Saturday, he said that this decision would be taken by the ‘ Central leadership’.
“The issue doesn’t matter much to us. Those (AAP) who betray people, the people will treat them like this (Defeat) only”, he said.
The exit polls have been predicting the BJP’s victory after nearly three decades. But some poles also predicted a tough fight between BJP and AAP but the congress was set to have a limited impact. According to the results of the exit polls, BJP could secure 35 to 49 seats, AAP could get 21 to 37 seats and Congress could get up to 3 seats.
Parvesh Verma
The son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, Parvesh Verma is contending against AAP national convenor and former CM Arwind Kejriwal for the New Delhi seat. He started trailing after leading in early poll trends.
Ramesh Bidhuri
Bidhuri is contesting from the Kalkaji constituency against CM Atishi of the AAP party. AAP party has previously declared Bidhuri as the CM face of the BJP party and had invited him for a debate during poll campaigns.
Bidhuri when asked about becoming the CM face of the party replied ” We are here to serve the public, not for any position like CM.”
Bansuri Swaraj
Daughter of late foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Bansuri Swaraj – a first-time MP from New Delhi – has quickly made a name for herself in the BJP. Contesting from a historic seat once held by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani, she has been given a high-profile political launch. With her growing influence, she is emerging as a strong contender for the CMs role
Smriti Irani
Once a high-profile BJP leader, Smriti Irani has been noticeably absent from the political scene after her Lok Sabha defeat to Gandhi family loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma. However, as Delhi geared up for polls, reports suggested she was being considered for the CM post.
Dushyant Gautam
Dushyant Gautam, BJPs national general secretary and Dalit leader, is contesting from Karol Baghs reserved constituency against AAPs Vishesh Ravi. Having previously served as a Rajya Sabha MP, he has been active in student politics. His seniority in BJP and Dalit representation bolsters his chances for the post.
Vijender Gupta
He is one of the strong contenders for the CM post if the BJP wins the Delhi elections. He was the former Delhi BJP chief. He has consistently held the Rohini seat, winning the 2015 and 2020 elections despite AAP’s dominance. He has also served as the leader of the opposition in the Delhi assembly. Hence his experience in the field makes him one of the key faces to be the next CM if the BJP wins this election.
