    Read Later

In today’s digital world, spending too much time in front of screens has increased vision-related problems, especially presbyopia. This condition, which comes with old age, makes it challenging to focus on close objects.

In India, the number of presbyopia cases has more than doubled, rising from 57.7 million in 1990 to almost 140 million in 2020. Globally, around 1.09 billion to 1.80 billion people are affected by this condition.

As people get older, particularly those in their 40s to 60s, they often experience worsening symptoms of presbyopia.

In the significant development for eye care, Entod Pharmaceuticals of Mumbai, has received final approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for PresVu, an eye drop designed to address Presbyopia. This approval is an important step in the treatment for vision-related issues. PresVu also offers an alternative compared to regular reading glasses.

The CEO of Entod Pharmaceuticals, Nikkhil K Masurkar titled PresVu as a revolutionary treatment for presbyopia. The company has developed PresVu to offer a practical solution for individuals aged 40 to 55 who suffer from mild to moderate presbyopia.

By potentially removing the need for reading glasses, PresVu aims to improve visual independence and the quality of life for many people.

    How does PresVu Work?

PresVu is designed to address and solve the problems associated with presbyopia by providing an alternative to reading glasses. The eyedrops work by improving the eye’s ability to focus on nearby objects, which is typically difficult due to the loss of less flexibility with age.

Unlike traditional methods, PresVu offers a non-invasive solution that fits easily into daily routine.

The formulation of PresVu is made with a special blend of ingredients to improve the eye’s focusing power. Users are instructed to apply the drops once daily. The effects of the drops can last for several hours, providing a short-term but helpful fix for the problems caused by presbyopia.

Availability and Pricing of the Eyedrops

PresVu is set to launch in India in the first week of October. The eyedrops will be priced at ₹345 per vial, with each vial designed to last about a month. The pricing makes PresVu a more budget-friendly choice compared to the ongoing cost of reading glasses and other vision aids.

Entod Pharmaceuticals also plans to focus on both local and growing markets, including regions in Africa and Southeast Asia. The company aims to innovate in India and eventually license PresVu for the US market, expanding its reach and presence.

Clinical Trials and Approval of the Eyedrops

The development of PresVu involved research and clinical trials and testing. The eyedrops underwent successful multi-centric Phase 3 clinical trials conducted in India, which resulted in their approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).

This careful testing ensured and confirmed the effectiveness and safety of PresVu, allowing it to be launched in the market.

CEO Masurkar emphasized the significance of this approval. He stated that PresVu is the result of years of hard work, dedicated research, and development. He views PresVu not just as a product but as a solution that has the potential to significantly improve the lives of millions by offering visual independence from reading glasses.
