Elon Musk to Unveil ‘Scary Smart’ AI, Grok 3

    Read Later

Tech mogul Elon Musk has officially confirmed the launch of Grok 3, describing it as the “smartest AI on Earth.” Taking to X, Musk announced, “Grok 3 release with live demo on Monday at 8pm PT.

He further added, “Will be honing product with the team all weekend, so offline until then.” He affirmed the progress of the product by replying to his own tweet with “It’s looking good.”

    Grok 3: Pushing AI Boundaries

Speaking at the Dubai World Government Summit earlier this week, Musk elaborated on the AI model’s capabilities, stating, “Grok 3 has very powerful reasoning capabilities. In the test that we have done thus far, Grok 3 is outperforming anything that’s been released that we are aware of. That’s a good sign.” He even described it as “scary smart,” suggesting that it can develop solutions beyond human anticipation.

Musk highlighted Grok 3’s advanced training process, explaining, “Grok 3 was trained with the most amount of compute and I think very efficiently trained. Grok 3 was trained on a lot of synthetic data and then it goes back and forth through the data and tries to achieve logical consistency. If it’s got data that is wrong, it will actually reflect upon that and remove the data that is wrong, that does not concord with reality. Its base reasoning is very good.”

    The OpenAI Rivalry Heats Up

Musk had also placed a $97.4 billion bid for OpenAI’s non-profit arm earlier this week. However, the offer was rejected, escalating tensions between xAI and OpenAI. Musk has been a vocal critic of OpenAI’s transition from an open-source, non-profit model to a commercial powerhouse. “OpenAI is meant to be open source, non-profit and now they changed the name to closed for maximum profit AI,” he remarked.

This intensifying rivalry underscores Musk’s push to position Grok 3 as a formidable alternative to ChatGPT and other AI models currently dominating the market.

    Musk’s Government Reform Advocacy

Beyond AI, Musk also took the opportunity at the Dubai World Government Summit to push for radical government reforms, advocating for the elimination of entire federal agencies. “I think we do need to delete entire agencies as opposed to leave a lot of them behind,” Musk said, adding, “If we don’t remove the roots of the weed, then it’s easy for the weed to grow back.”

Musk revealed plans under the unofficial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—a term he coined—to cut government spending and enhance accountability. He asserted that reducing regulation and the size of the federal government would “restore rule of the people.”

Musk also backed Trump’s efforts to downsize agencies like USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy, questioning their effectiveness: “How much democracy have they achieved lately?”

Additionally, he warned of potential AI biases in governance, stating, “If hypothetically, AI is designed to prioritize DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) … it could decide there’s too many men in power and execute them.”
