Celebration of Indian Cinema: 70th National Film Award Winners

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced the list of winners of the 70th National Film Festival for 2024 just after Independence Day. The awards were announced during a press conference in which three movies have been nominated as the biggest winners, including Kantara for Best Popular Film, KGF 2 for Best Kannada Film and Gulmohar won the Best Hindi Film National awards. 

The list also includes the actors and music directors who are bestowed with Best Actors and Best Music Directors awards, including Rishab Shetty from Kantara for Best Actor and Nithya Menon and Manasi Parekh shared the Best actress award.

While Pritam and A.R Rahman won the Best Music Directors award for Brahmastra and Ponniyin Selvan 2, respectively. Notably, there are certain changes in the National Film Awards this year. The “Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film” will now be known as the “Best Debut Film of a Director.”

Best Actress: Nithya Menon and Manasi Parekh

Best Supporting Actor: Pawan Malhotra 

Best Debut: Fouja, Pramod Kumar 

Best Telugu Film: Kartikeya 2 

Best Tamil Film: Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 

Best Punjabi Film: Baaghi Di Dhee 

Best Odia Film: Daman

Best Marathi Film: Vaalvi 

Best Kannada Film: KGF: Chapter 2
