    Indian music icon Lata Mangeshkar composed and sang “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon” for the first time in 1963. While listening to the song former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was moved to tears Nehru then stated that anyone who was not shaken by the song should not be called a ‘Hindustani’. It is well known how Jawaharlal Nehru named Lata Mangeshkar as ‘Nightingale of Inda’. The performance was more than that of a magnificent vocalist but a tribute to the sacrifice of soldiers.
