The re-release of the romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam is creating a buzz in the entertainment world. Originally released in 2016, the movie, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, is making a grand return to theaters. This Bollywood cult favorite did not perform well at the box office during its initial release but gained immense popularity on OTT platforms over the years. Due to increasing fan demand on social media, the makers decided to bring the film back to cinemas on February 7, 2025.
In a interview recently, Harshvardhan expressed hope that Sanam Teri Kasam achieves what it couldn’t during it’s initial release. He shared that fans constantly requested its return, and despite nine years passing, his faith in the film has only grown. He recalled the disappointment felt by the entire team when it underperformed at the box office at that time.
He hopes the film earns more this time, like Tumbbad and Laila Majnu did. However, he admitted that he couldn’t predict its success back then and just hopes for the best now.
Rane also believes Sanam Teri Kasam’s initial box office performance was fair. He admitted that since he himself doesn’t usually watch featuring newcomers, it would be hypocritical to blame the audience for not watching his. He accepts that outcome without resentments.
First day box office performance of Sanam Teri Kasam
The re-release has already generated a lot of excitement among fans, with many shows reporting houseful bookings. Advance ticket sales are remarkable, with approximately 39,000 tickets sold so far, and around 20,000 tickets sold just for the opening day.
As per predictions, the movie is expected to earn around ₹2 crore on its first day back in theaters, making it a strong contender for breaking re-release box office records.
Competing with other Releases
Despite being a re-release, Sanam Teri Kasam seems to have an edge over some fresh releases at the box office. Upcoming films which include Himesh Reshammiya’s action-packed Badass Ravi Kumar is expected to open with over Rs. 5 crores, while Loveyapa is estimated to collect between Rs. 1–2 crore.
Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, Sanam Teri Kasam has built a loyal fan base over these years, especially after its successful run on OTT platforms. The film is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, it’s emotional appeal has managed to gain strong views among audience.
