    Bollywood has a rich history of creating spine-chilling spooky characters that scare and thrill viewers. From vengeful ghosts to evil entities, these spooky supernatural villains have left a lasting impact on horror lovers. Let’s explore some of the most unforgettable and frightening characters in Bollywood’s horror genre. 

    Hastar – The Demon God

    In the movie Tumbbad, Hastar is a terrifying character. He is a demon god and the son of the Goddess of Prosperity. Although he was born from a divine being and had access to immense wealth, his motives were not good.  

    Hastar desired the goddess’s grain, which was essential for both gods and humans. This greed led to a violent conflict with his sibling gods. The goddess saved him in her womb, and his name was erased from history but not in Tumbbad.

    Tatya Vinchu – The Malevolent Doll

    Tatya Vinchu, a notorious gangster from the movie Khilona Bana Khalnayak, adds a unique twist to the horror. After meeting Baba Chamatkar and acquiring a special mantra to transfer his soul, Tatya Vinchu dies in an encounter and ends up living as a doll.  

    This doll was received by Lakshya, with whom Tatya talks, and when Tatya commits wicked crimes, Lakshya’s name comes up. The doll’s deeds, crimes and quest to regain a human form make this character both spooky and unforgettable. 

    Rukshana – The Cursed Woman

    In the film Pari: Not a fairy tale, Rukshana a Pari and daughter of Ifrits, portrayed by Anuskha Sharma, is a central character who brings a disturbing and spooky vibe. She is a woman born under a curse with dark supernatural forces and venom in her veins.  

    Her transformation into a demonic figure is shown through her striking makeup and compelling acting, making her one of the scariest characters in Bollywood horror.

    Diana – The Witch

    No list of horror Bollywood characters are complete without a witch, and Diana from Ek Thi Daayan fits this role perfectly. Diana, played by Konkona Sen Sharma, captures the essence of evil and manipulation. 

    Her character blends psychological fear with physical threats, making her a haunting and mysterious figure that keeps viewers in suspense and horror. 

    Sarkata Bhoot – The Menacing Spirit

    In the upcoming movie Stree 2, Sarkata Bhoot will be a powerful horror villain. This ghostly character hypnotizes the men of Chanderi and turns them against Stree, the main character. 

    Sarkata’s scary head appearance, created with CGI and body shots is performed by Sunil Kumar, known as the Great Khali of Jammu. Sarkata’s ability to target both men and women which also makes him a strong and scary enemy.

    Local legends say Sarkata is the spirit of a British officer who tragically died in World War II. 

    Munjya – The Malevolent Spirit

    In the film Munjya, the character Munjya comes from a tragic tale of unrequited love and dark magic. After a failed attempt to poison his rival, Gotya’s desperation leads him to perform black magic, which accidentally causes his own death.

    This tragic incident turns him into Munjya, a vengeful ghost that haunts the peepal tree where the dark magic was performed. Munjya’s backstory and spooky presence make him a notable character in Bollywood horror films.
