    Mufasa: The Lion King Ends Second Week with Rs 50 Crore

    Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King is on track to become the highest-earning Hollywood release in India. Though the film’s start was underwhelming, it wrapped up the second week, earning in double digits. It has successfully concluded the second week with an impressive collection of Rs 50.35 crore.

    According to the Sacnilk, Mufasa earned an estimated Rs 2.9 crores on Day 14. Leading the way, the film’s Hindi-dubbed version contributed Rs 1.25 crore, while the original English version earned Rs 75 lakhs and the Tamil-dubbed version added Rs 55 lakhs.

    Second Week Collection

    Mufasa: The Lion King was released in theatres with below expectations. However, by the second week, it has maintained a stronghold during the Christmas holidays. The film earned Rs 32.50 crores during the opening week and posted a total of Rs 62.50 crores. While the second week started with 6.25 crores and posted Rs 9.85 crores by the second Friday. On the second Sunday, the film earned Rs 11.75 crores.

    According to the reports, the film earned an estimated Rs 27.85 crores during the second weekend, which was surprisingly superb as compared to the opening week.

    With this, the film has surpassed the earnings of the 2019 release of the Lion King, which collected Rs 45.75 crore in the first two weeks after release.

    Total Earnings

    Mufasa: The Lion King film boasts a total net collection of Rs 124.6 crore. The Hindi-dubbed version made cumulative earnings of a total of Rs 44.15 crores. Followed by the English version made at Rs 41.9 crore. The Tamil and Telugu collections contributed Rs 22.4 crore and Rs 16.15 crore, respectively.

    About the Film

    Mufasa: The Lion King is a 2024-based American musical drama film directed by Barry Jenkins. It is the sequel to the 2019 film, The Lion King. The film explores the origins of Mufasa, the journey from a lost cub to becoming the king of the Pride Lands.

    The story is narrated by Rafiki (a film character) to young Lion cub Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala. The characters, including Timon and Pumbaa, further add humorous content to the movie. The voice cast of the film includes Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison as Taka, and returning voices like Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, and Beyoncé. The film was released in the United States on Friday, December 20, 2024, and received mixed reactions from the critics.
