Salman Khan, the Bollywood superstar, made his comeback after 2 years with “Sikandar” on Sunday, 30th March, a right before Eid. According to trade analysis platform Sacnilk, Salman Khan’s Sikandar made Rs 26 crore on its opening day on Sunday. However, trade experts had expected the film to make Rs 40-50 crore on the opening day.

Among Salman’s recent releases, Sikandar has had the lowest opening barring his last release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, that earned Rs 13.5 crore on day 1 and Radhe which minted Rs 4.75 crore.

Comparatively, salman’s previous films have had better box office collection on first day, like Tiger Zinda Hai opened with Rs 34.10 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan raked in Rs 27.25 crore, Sultan minted Rs 36.54 crore, Kick collected Rs 26.40 crore, Bharat stood at Rs 42.30 crore, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo earned Rs 40.35 crore, and Ek Tha Tiger opened with Rs 32.93 crore. Even Tiger 3, his last release, had a stronger opening at Rs 44.5 crore.

Reason behind this low box office collection

Trade analyst Komal Nahta confirmed the film’s leak on Sunday before realise, stating, “This morning, I spoke to seven or eight people in the trade, and they confirmed that the film had been leaked. I was also told that Sajid Nadiadwala and the authorized team worked hard to remove the film from many piracy websites. But by then, the damage was already done. It spreads very fast.”

This online pairacy is one of the reason, that the movie did not do well in the first day. Other then this, People are also complaining about the lack of surprise element in the story, also the chemistry between Salman and Rashmika not so palpable.

According to the audience, the age difference between the actors in the film is clearly visible throughout the movie.

Although “Sikandar” had a slow start, industry experts believe Sikandar has the potential to be a massive success, possibly securing Salman Khan’s spot in the ₹500-crore club.

The highest-grossing Salman Khan film in India remains Tiger Zinda Hai, with a net collection of ₹339.16 crore. It is followed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which earned ₹320 crore. If Sikandar aims to become Salman Khan’s highest-grossing film, it will need to surpass both of these records.
