The World Robot Conference 2024 unveiled several humanoid robots including Astribot S1, NAVAI, AGIBOT and others, featuring human capabilities, expressions and interactions. Notably, the conference was hosted by Beijing at the Beijing Economic Technical Development Area (E-Town) from August 21 to 25 and has wrapped up with huge success.  

This five-day conference presented the latest advancements in robotics and attracted over 169 exhibitors globally, with more than 600 innovative products and over 27 different humanoid models. 

This year’s conference focused on three themes including industrial development, collaborative innovation and technological innovation. Featuring the world’s top robotic scientists, industrial leaders, and innovation elites, the event showcased robotic technologies and their possible development in the near future. 

The conference was held alongside the World Robot Contest Championship 2024, with around 13000 participants and over 10 countries including the United States, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany and others.   

World Robot Exhibition 2024 and World Forum on Robot 2024 were also held there. 

Some major highlights of the World Robot Conference 2024 are: 

• Humanoid Robots: The conference featured over 27 humanoid robots demonstrating their impressive capabilities in various sectors such as bipedal movement, dexterity, real-world applications. These robots also showcased their advancements in AI, and their potential in different industries. 
• World of Robots Pavilion: The new pavilion at the World Robot Conference was aimed at fostering public understanding and engagement with robots. It also featured some interactive exhibitions, promotion of innovation and industry growth.
• Global Participation: The Conference welcomed over 812,000 visitors and more than 120,000 participants including industry leaders from companies like ABB, Tesla, Kuka and SMC. This global gathering emphasized active collaboration and innovation in the robotic field. 
• Diverse Application and High-end Technology: Robots designed for various sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, elderly services, were on display. These events highlighted the integration of AI, improved battery systems, and other technologies enabling more sophisticated robots with efficiency.  

Significance of World Robot Conference 

The World Robot Conference was aimed at technical and scientific advancement under the new industrial development trends in the world. The conference further provided a great chance to build networks with global robotics community, benefit from the global resources, bring creative talent and utilize the platform for further international cooperation in the field of robotics and constructing long-term cooperation mechanism. 

It is to be noted thar this annual event comes amid the dominance of China to overtake the western rivals like Tesla in the humanoid robotic industry. The Chinese government with a committee led by President XI Jinping has been backing their efforts in the technical sector and focus on building “new productive forces” in technology. 

The China’s robotics industry has surpassed the investment of over 100 billion in the last 10 years for its advancement. 

Here’s a list of some humanoid Robots at WRF 2024 

• Astribot S1: It is a humanoid assistant robot developed by Stardust Intelligence for carrying out effective tasks such as folding a shirt and pouring wine into a glass etc. At the conference, the robot showcased its calligraphic skills. 

• NAVAI:  It is a humanoid robot developed by the China-based Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center for its unique skills such as delivering a speech, making tea, and playing chess. 

• AGIBOT: During the conference, Agibot presented five new robots that are capable of making deliveries. It was founded by a former Huawei employee to use them as salespeople, gallery guides or pickers of factory parts.
