Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose

In a surprise twist of fate role reversal, Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose was detained on attempted murder charges for engaging in a road rage street fight in Bengaluru.

The Incident: Street Fight

The brawl, as per reports, began when Bose's car supposedly bumped Kumar's scooter on the other side of Baiyappanahalli. Bose supposedly alighted from the car and engaged in a fight with Kumar, and there was also an exchange of words between the pair. As per eyewitnesses, Bose physically attacked Kumar and sustained injuries on his person. A clip that went viral, depicting the accident, can also be seen on social media which created further publicinterest and controversy.

Charges Against Bose

Kumar had lodged a complaint against Bose with the Baiyappanahalli Police on assault charges after the incident. The police have filed a case against Bose under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The police are interrogating, and the authorities are examining the video clip and the testimonies of witnesses to establish the chronology of events and the seriousness of the suspected assault.

Chief Minister's Intervention

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued the message to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner to start a detailed inquiry and ensure justice in the case. Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the 'need to stamp the reign of the rule of law irrespective of the status or rank of one.'

The incident provokes a polarized public reaction. While some are able to empathize with Kumar's perspective, blaming someone for the perceived slight of a high-ranking defense officer, there are others who think that the incident was blown out of proportion since people had been provoked by Kumar's attitude. The viral video clip has brought the town into the spotlight when it comes to road safety, courtesy, and traffic indiscipline.

IAF's Stand: Waiting for Court Action

Indian Air Force had nothing to say on the matter, citing that it is keeping powder dry waiting for court judgment in pending cases. IAF once again stated that it is standing firm on its belief of following the law and standing up for its men and officers to the best of code of conduct on and off duty.

The Bengaluru Road rage of Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose has left us all in awe of what military officers get up to on the road. Despite investigation ongoing, the case has taught us that self-control must be practiced at all times to resolve things amicably.
