Lenskart to Build World’s Largest Eyewear Factory in Telangana

Eyewear giant Lenskart has announced plans to build the worlds largest eyewear manufacturing globally in Telangana. With an investment of IN 1,500 crore, the advanced facility will manufacture eyewear, lenses, sunglasses, and accessories. The manufacturing is aimed at both the local market and export opportunities in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Lenskart co-founder Amit Chaudhary revealed that the company chose Telangana after evaluating multiple states due to the region’s speed and ease of doing business. The decision was influenced by Telangana’s proactive governance and supportive business environment. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Telangana Industries and IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao.
The new manufacturing facility is set to be established at Fab City in Hyderabad. Fab City is a specialized industrial park designed for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. The city makes it an ideal location for Lenskart’s ambitious project. The site for the facility has already been identified and will be handed over to Lenskart within this week.
The facility is set to manufacture a wide range of eyewear products such as lenses, sunglasses, and accessories. Lenskart intends to cater to the Indian market as well as export to Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The advanced manufacturing processes and high standards of production will ensure the highest quality products for its consumers.
The new facility is expected to create around 2,000 jobs, making it significant to local employment. Beyond direct employment, numerous indirect job opportunities will also arise, benefiting the local economy. Additionally, Discussions are also ongoing about setting up a Research and Development (R&D) center in Telangana. It further boosts innovation and job employment in the region.
Lenskart is not solely focusing on its manufacturing unit but is also considering expanding its operations further in Telangana. The company is exploring possibilities for additional facilities and partnerships that could enhance its presence in the state. The expansion aligns with Lenskart’s vision to be a global leader in eyewear manufacturing and innovation.
