Middle East Conflict: Israel and Hezbollah Vows to Intensify Cross-Border Attacks

The situation between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated into a greater conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah Leader Naim Qassem have announced their plans to intensify cross-border attacks. This move came out after Hezbollah launched over 140 rockets in Northern Israel on Friday.

Hezbollah targeted Israel in response to the previous strike attacks in Southern Lebanon that claimed the lives of dozens of people including two Hezbollah commanders. It was also in response to the explosion of communication devices that killed dozens of people and left thousands more injured.

Israelis have not accepted their involvement in the exploding devices across Lebanon.

Naim Qassem Declares Open-Ended Battle

Hezbollah leader, Naim Qassem has declared an open-ended battle as both sides are getting closer towards an all-out war. He indicated that the attacks have marked a new phase of warfare. What happened last night is just the beginning, Qassem added at the funeral of two Hezbollah commanders killed during this attack.

Hezbollah Targets Israel

On Sunday, Hezbollah launched around 150 rockets, cruise missiles, and drones. The war has affected the deeper parts of Northern Israel. As per Israeli Defense Forces, the war has intercepted most of their projectiles, while one rocket strike at Kiryat Bialik has left at least four people wounded.

Israel Intensifies Attacks

In response to the attack, Israel has intensified its attacks on Hezbollah. It launched several airstrikes in Southern Lebanon. The war resulted in loss of three lives, leaving four injured. The death toll in Lebanon has also increased to 45 in Beirut (Capital of Lebanon), as was confirmed by the Health Ministry.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that the country is determined to counter Hezbollah to facilitate the safe return of lakhs of Israelis displaced due to conflict.

He said that more than 1,50,000 people have been displaced due to ongoing conflict in the region.

He also said that Israel would take every possible action, to restore security in the northern region and allow people to return.

No country can accept the wanton rocketing of its cities. We cant accept it either.”

The United Nations is closely looking at the developments in the region and raised several concerns amid the ongoing conflict. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, UNs special coordinator for Lebanon cautioned the region stating, It cannot be overstated enough, there is NO military solution that will make either side safer.
