National Space Day: A Tribute to India’s Journey to Space

August 23, 2024, is the day when India is celebrating its first-ever National Space Day. This day salutes the countrys historic feat of Vikram Lander from Chandrayaan-3 land successfully at the Moons south pole in 2023.
Honble Prime Minister Narendra Modi named the point, as Shiv Shakti and declared August 23 as the National Space Day. This day also marks the first anniversary of Chandrayaan-3 landing.
The Indian government officially designated August 23 as Nation Space Day to recognize nations noteworthy accomplishment. This also highlights Indias increasing expertise in space exploration and the crucial role of space science and technology in countrys progress.
Launched from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradeshs Satish Dhawan Space Centre, the Chandrayaan-3 mission successfully completed Vikram Landers soft landing on Moons surface. This landmark event marked a historic milestone for India. India became the first nation to ever land on Moons south pole and fourth country nationwide to successfully land on the moon.
The theme of National Space Day is Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: Indias Space Saga. It will be celebrated for two days with a range of activities. There will be exhibitions and lectures. In addition, mobile exhibitions titled Space on Wheels will go to colleges, schools and institutions to provide educational insights into space. The events will showcase Indias space endeavors.
Furthermore, ISRO has also introduced new initiatives, called Space Tutors. The program aims to provide useful learning opportunities from ISRO-affiliated mentors.
The scientific and technical environment of India has seen a profound progress with the success of Chandrayaan-3. India has built its prominent position in the worldwide space community. It also serves as an inspiration for a new generation of scientists and engineers.
This achievement also underscores the necessity and benefits to national security, economic development and international cooperation.
A fresh collection of images taken by Vikram Lander and Pragyan, were posted by ISRO, prior to the first anniversary of Chanrayaan-3. The preview includes the Pragyan initial moments on the lunar surface along with other key mission milestones.
