PM Modi Calls to Honor the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel and Birsa Munda

During the 115th episode of his monthly radio address, Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the nation to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Sardar Patel and Birsa Munda. PM specifically underlined the value of honoring the legacy of these revered leaders who stood up for the unity and freedom of India.
He encouraged everyone to participate in the 150th-anniversary celebrations of these leaders. He also requested people to share their thoughts and work related to Patel under the hashtag #Sardar150 and how Dharti-Aaba Birsa Munda inspires them under #BirsaMunda150.
During his address PM Modi declared that the nation would celebrate the birth anniversaries of the figures on a grand level. He stated, The government has decided to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of these great personalities at the national level. I would urge all of you to become a part of this campaign.”
He further emphasized the shared vision of unity between Indias First Home Minister, Sardar Patel, and Birsa Munda, afearless freedom fighter. “India has faced many challenges throughout history,” he said. “Today, I would like to speak about two heroes who displayed remarkable courage and vision. Both Sardar Patel and Birsa Munda stood for the unity of our country, thePM said.
The Indian PM also reminiscences his memory when he visited Birsa Mundas birthplace. The leader shared that last year, on November, 15 he visited Ulihatu, a village in Jharkhand which is also the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He called it a special moment as he got the chance to honor a significant figure in our history. The PM also mentioned that the visit had a great impact on him.
The Indian government has been thinking of celebrating Mundas birth anniversary as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, since 2021.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also referred to as the The Iron Man of India has a pivotal role in the freedom of India. Patel has also served as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. A close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, Patel unified approximately 500 princely states into the Indian Union post-independence.
India celebrates his legacy as National Unity Day on his birth anniversary. In 2018, the worlds tallest statue, The Statue of Liberty was also inaugurated.
Born in present-day Jharkhand, Birsa Munda was a freedom fighter and a pivotal leader of thetribal community. Birsa gained notoriety for leading the Munda rebellion against British colonial control and advocating for the rights of tribal communities and their ancestorial lands. The people of Jharkhand celebrate November 15th as Birsa Munda Jayanti in his memory.
This decision by the Indian government to remember the sacrifices made by our leaders will inspire future generations. They will also get to know about the struggles India made to get this precious independence.
