    Haryana Assembly Polls: BJP on the Verge of Creating History?

    In a dramatic turn of events from the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, where BJP is contesting for a historic third term and the Congress is making a strong bid to return to power. BJP has crossed the majority mark by leading with 50 seats out of 90. While the congress is leading with 35 seats, as per the latest data. However, the results are being tallied out about the distribution of the seats.

    The Haryana Assembly elections are this time conducted in a single phase. This means voting across the entire state was conducted on the same day i.e. October 5, 2024.

    Ahead of the election results, various exit polls suggested that the Congress party would secure a significant number of seats, potentially by winning 49 to 62 seats.

    Meanwhile, the actual results showed that BJP is on the verge of winning by leading in the highest number of seats. When the counting started in the morning, it was touted as a battle between the BJP and the Congress.

    During the opening hours, congress members were observed celebrating with crackers and sweets at their Delhi office. However, the BJP soon took the lead, and the celebrations moved to the BJP. The snacks and sweets were served to the media personnel outside the BJP headquarters and the party representatives.

    On the other side, the Congress party remained hopeful of securing victory in the assembly elections.

    Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Shelja from the Congress maintained their confidence about the party results. “The Congress is winning in Haryana,” CM Hooda noted.

    Some Highlights from Haryana Assembly Elections 2024

    According to the current updates, Congress’ Gokul Setia has won against Gopal Kanda of the Haryana Lokhit Party in the Sirsa Constituency. This victory marked a significant outcome as Gopal Kanda was a strong contender and the sitting MLA of the region.

    Savitri Jindal, who stood as an independent candidate from Hisar seat won against Kamal Gupta of the BJP, Ram Niwas Rara of the Congress. The victory is notable as Kamal Gupta was the incumbent MLA.

    India’s renowned Wrestler, Vinesh Phogat turned politician has made a successive political debut. She secured won against BJP’s Yogesh Kumar from the Julana district.

    Induraj Singh Narwal, a prominent congress leader has secured victory in Baroda. BJP’s Nikhil Madaan has also emerged victorious from the Sonipat against Surender Pawar.

    2019 Haryana Assembly Elections

    In 2019, the BJP led the Haryana Assembly elections and attained victory against 40 seats. The Congress party secured 31 seats and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) got 10.

    The BJP formed the government with the JJP alliance, but later the alliance ended after JJP faced setback in the current elections.

    Manohar Lal Khattar continued as the Chief Minister and Dushyant Chautala as Deputy Chief Minister from JJP. On March 12, 2024, Lal Khattar Manohar resigned from his position, under the influence of party dynamics ahead of Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections.
