The highly anticipated results of the 70-member Delhi election for 2025 are about to be announced. Live updates indicate that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is trailing, while BJP candidate Parvesh Varma is leading with 48 seats. Exit polls predict a victory for the BJP in the capital. Celebrations are underway at the BJP headquarters as the party’s path to victory becomes increasingly clear.
With victory on the horizon, Prime Minister Modi is preparing to meet with party workers to celebrate. He is scheduled to arrive at 7:45 PM at the BJP headquarters located on Deendayal Upadhyaya Marg, where he will address supporters and party leaders.
Victory Unleashed with Leads?
The exit poll predictions proved to be accurate as Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), lost his key seat to BJP candidate Parvesh Sharma. The BJP secured 47 seats, while the AAP managed to win only 23. Kejriwal was trailing by 3,182 votes. After a gap of 27 years, the BJP is set to govern the capital once again.
The BJP key members had shown confidence in the public of Delhi, before winning the elections. “People of Delhi have shown faith in PM Modi. It’s a huge victory for us and the people of Delhi…He (PM Modi) will come to the party headquarters in the evening,” said Virendra Sachdeva, BJP chief of Delhi, predicting the upcoming victory.
He had added, determining the rejection of the Delhi public towards the AAP government, “The situation in Delhi–contaminated water, broken roads, poor sanitation, pollution in the Yamuna, and much more–was a reflection of Kejriwal’s model of governance, which the people of Delhi have rejected,”
A Meeting for Preparations
In preparation for the victory celebrations, the BJP is organizing strategic planning for the event, which will include key leaders from the party. Among those participating are Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, Co-In-Charge Atul Garg, Delhi BJP Organization Minister Pawan Rana, State In-Charge Baijayant Panda, Delhi BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal, Co-Organization Minister Shiv Prakash, and National General Secretary Arun Singh.
Successful Campaigning?
In the capital, AAP campaigned around the shaped political landscape by promoting initiatives such as free electricity, free water, and free bus services for women. Emphasizing on policies that attract votes from the middle and lower classes, helping to enhance AAP’s goodwill among these communities.
Out of Power since 1998, BJP took the route to attack AAP, leading that Modi said, The past 10 years have been marked by corruption and scams in various sectors such as liquor contracts, school education, healthcare for the poor, pollution control, and recruitment,”
The arrest of Kejriwal in 2024 was mentioned during the election campaign for Delhi elections. PM launched attack words like ‘AAP-da’ (Trouble) and made slogans like, “Aap-da ko nahi sahenge, badal kar rahenge”
The final results are awaited with the BJP’s lead over the capital and the scathing loss of Congress and the Aam Admi party’.
