For the first time in history, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India, is set to host a wedding. President of India Droupadi Murmu has made the unprecedented decision to allow a marriage ceremony to take place within the grand premises of the presidential estate. The marriage will be between Poonam Gupta the Personal Security Officer (PSO) in Rashtrapati Bhavan and Assistant Commandant Avinash Kumar, who is serving in Jammu and Kashmir.

The marriage will be solemnized on February 12, 2005. The Chief Guest at the wedding will be President Droupadi Murmu herself. It is worth mentioning, Poonam Gupta has been posted as the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of President Murmu. The President is impressed with the behavior of Poonam so much so that she decides to get her married off at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Poonam is a resident of Shriram Colony of Shivpuri in Delhi and she is all set to get married to Kashmir-based boy- Assistant Commandant Avinash Kumar, who is serving in Jammu and Kashmir. The family members of both sides are extremely delighted as the marriage will be solemnized in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. However, they have been asked not to divulge many details due to security concerns.

Wedding at the Rashtrapati Bhavan For the First Time

This landmark event marks a significant departure from tradition, as Rashtrapati Bhavan has never before been used as a venue for a wedding. While details about the ceremony, including the individuals involved and the date, remain undisclosed, the decision has already sparked widespread curiosity and excitement.

Sources indicate that the President’s approval of the wedding is a reflection of her progressive and inclusive approach, making Rashtrapati Bhavan more accessible for such personal and celebratory occasions. Rashtrapati Bhavan, an architectural marvel and symbol of India’s democratic heritage, has traditionally been reserved for official ceremonies, state functions, and high-profile diplomatic events.

This historic wedding will add a new chapter to its legacy, setting a precedent for potential future celebrations within its grand halls. The decision is expected to draw national attention, with many eagerly awaiting further details about this unique event in India’s presidential history.
