Previous Accidents Involving Maha Kumbh Pilgrims

Several other fatal road accidents have occurred in recent weeks during the Maha Kumbh Mela. On February 13, a bus carrying 57 Maha Kumbh pilgrims collided with a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Kota district, killing three people, including a married couple, and injuring two others. The pilgrims were returning to Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, after attending the religious event in Prayagraj.

Earlier, on February 7, two devotees returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela lost their lives, and about a dozen others sustained injuries when their mini-bus crashed into a stationary bus on the Yamuna Expressway under Tappal police station jurisdiction.

Separate Road Accidents in Uttar Pradesh

In another tragic accident, four people died when a car crashed into a tractor-trolley in Basti district. Upon receiving the report, SP Abhinandan and other officials quickly arrived at the scene. Police had to cut through the wreckage to retrieve the bodies from the severely damaged car. The accident occurred at the Benipur intersection on the Babhanan-Harraiya road within the Pakolia police station limits.

Bus and Truck Crash in Amethi

A separate incident took place in Amethi, where a bus full of passengers collided with a parked truck on Purvanchal Expressway. The crash left four passengers, including the driver, critically injured. Authorities confirmed that all injured individuals received medical treatment at CHC, with two passengers later referred to Lucknow for advanced care.

The bus, which was traveling from Gwalior to Gorakhpur, caught fire after the impact and burned completely. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene following the accident.
