    ‘Justice is Due’…Bengaluru’s Atul Subhash Commits Suicide; Blames Wife and Her Family

    In a disturbing turn of events, a 34-year-old software engineer Atul Subhash took his life at his residence in Marathahalli, Bengaluru. The victim also left a 24-page suicide note behind.  The chilling fact of this suicide is that Atul posted a one-and-a-half-hour video of himself on Rumble on 9th December, minted before taking a huge step towards ending his life.

    What Happened on 9th December?

    Around 6 am on December 9, the Hoysala Police control room received a complaint that a person had died by suicide inside his apartment. The deceased was identified as Atul Subhash. Atul was found in a hanging state by his neighbors at his home in Manjunath Layout. A placard with the words, ‘Justice is due’ and a 24-page long suicide note was also found at the crime scene. Apart from these evidences, a video was also uploaded by Atul on Rumble. In the video, Atul blamed his wife (Nikita), her family, and the judge as the reason for his suicide.

    Allegations Made by Atul Subhash

    The video and the note left behind by Atul claim harassment from his wife, her family, and a judge from Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur. In the video, Atul said that his estranged wife works in a renowned software company. His wife charged him with nine bogus cases and demanded an unreasonable maintenance amount of INR 3 crores.

    Atul also dropped a message on the WhatsApp group of an NGO that deals with domestic harassment-related issues. The deceased mentioned his decision to commit suicide in his message. The medical reports of Atul state that he was suffering from depression.

    The Video and Suicide Note Left Behind by Atul

    In the video, Atul said that shortly after the marriage his wife left his Bengaluru home and returned to Jaunpur, UP. There his wife filed dowry harassment and domestic violence cases against him and his parents. Atul mentioned the names of five people who are responsible for his death. He also claimed that his wife and in-laws planned a big conspiracy to extort money and also charged his family with false cases.

    He further claimed that his wife made false allegations against him, his family, and his brother like an attempt to murder, unnatural sex, domestic violence, and taking dowry. His wife also filed a case against him in 2019, that Atul’s family demanded a dowry of Rs 10 lakh, due to this shock her father died. However, later during the cross-examinations, it was clear that Nikita’s father’s death was due to his prolonged heart illness. Atul also claimed that Nikita demanded alimony of approx. INR 2 lakh every month in exchange for divorce and also kept their son away from him.

    The police also found a To-Do List from Atul’s house, ‘Final Task Before Mukti.’ The list was divided into three sections, ‘Before Last Day’, ‘Last Day’, and ‘Execute Last Moment.’ “If I win from the system, devote my mortal remains in Ganga, otherwise in a gutter outside the court,” Atul’s family quoted his last words from his death note.

    The huge step taken by Atul Subhash has sparked a massive outrage across the nation. His death has also uncovered the dark side of society and the legal system of family court. The amount of mental trauma would be so unbearable that make an innocent end his life.
