    January 26, 2025, Marks the 76th Republic Day of India

    The 76th Celebration of Indian Republic Day this Sunday, marked the historic event of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. This year’s celebration included a unique theme.

    Chief Guest

    The chief guest for the 76th Republic Day was Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s recently elected president, representing Indonesia during the celebrations and reflecting the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

    The Theme

    The celebration of the 76th Republic Day of India included a theme of ‘Swarnim Bharat—Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India—Heritage and Development), which will showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and development journey.

    Parade Tableau

    Every year, the 26th January celebration is conducted around various themes related to the country’s culture and history. Parade Tableau showcases the country’s various states, showcasing their own culture and folklore. This parade is run live on television and is watched by the country’s citizens.

    The 76th Republic Day events kicked off with Prime Minister Narendra Modi placing a wreath at the War Memorial. Afterward, the President arrived to oversee the parade, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM IST.

    The parade of the 76th Republic Day included 31 tableaux full of colors of cultures of the states of India, more than 5000 artisans, and 18 marching contingents. Additionally, the father-son duo of Lt General Bhavnish Kumar and Lieutenant Ahan Kumar participated in the 61 Cavalry contingent.

    Showcasing the armed forces of the country Air Force aircraft of India flaunted stunts and aerial formations. The ceremony of national respect concluded with the national anthem.

    Flower Showering & Missile Display

    The parade began with Mi-17 1V helicopters spreading flower petals over the guests, with Alok Ahlawat at the forefront. The parade showcased gallantry award recipients, including Param Vir Chakra winners Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, along with Ashok Chakra recipient Lt Col Jas Ram Singh, honored for their remarkable bravery and self-sacrifice.

    Additionally, Missile displays were featured on the Republic Day occasion, which were Bhisma- Tank T-90, BrahMos, Pinaka Multi Launcher Rocket System, Chetak, Bajrang, Airawat, and many more.

    Various Contingent

    National Armed Forces of Indonesia and the Military Band of the Indonesian Military Academy featured a contingent, consisting of 152 and the military band with 190 members.

    An all-women contingent participated in the Kartvaya Path, comprising 148 members of the Central Reserve Police Force, with Assistant Commandant Aishwarya Joy M leading the group. The second all-women contingent was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishikumar Singh.

    Veteran’s tableaux with the theme of â€˜Viksit Bharat ki Ore Sadaiv Agrasar’ were presented at Kartavya Path, comprising the sports veterans of the country.

    To grace the capital’s grounds with ‘Jan Bhagidari’ on the day of National importance, approximately 10,000 guests were invited to the ceremony.

    Historic Significance

    The day is commemorated as a significant milestone in Indian history, marking the adoption of the Constitution of India on January 26, 1950. This pivotal document was drafted by a constituent assembly, with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The Constitution replaced the previously established Government of India Act, which fulfilled the country’s aspirations for a democratic framework.

    On November 4, 1948, the assembly announced the final draft of the historic Constitution, which would lay the foundation for governance in the newly independent nation. The historic date of January 26, 1950, was celebrated with great fervor, highlighted by a grand 21-gun salute Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, who held office from 1950 to 1962, graced the occasion by unfurling the vibrant tricolored Indian National Flag, symbolizing the established unity and sovereignty of the country.

    From that moment onward, January 26 has been recognized as Republic Day in India, a day filled with patriotic pride and celebration of the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution, honoring the sacrifices made by countless individuals for freedom and equality.
