Congress leader and the MP for Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sharply criticized the remarks of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Ramesh Bidhuri on her ‘cheeks.’ She called it ‘ridiculous’ and ‘unnecessary.’.
She said important issues should be discussed during the Delhi Assembly polls instead of such irrelevant matters.
In recent talks with the media, Priyanka Gandhi stressed that such comments distract from the real issues. She said the focus should be on addressing the pressing concerns of the people of Delhi.
“It is a ridiculous remark. He never spoke about his cheeks. All this is unnecessary. During the elections, we should talk about the important issues of the people of Delhi,” the Congress MP said while departing from a joint parliamentary committee meeting on One Nation, One Election.
The Joint Parliamentry Meeting was held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. It was chaired by BJP MP PP Chaudhary and included members from various political parties, such as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Congress), Sanjay Jha (JD(U)), Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena), Sanjay Singh (AAP), and Kalyan Banerjee (Trinamool Congress).

Notably, this comes following the BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri making remarks about the Congress leader and Wayanad MP last week. He stated that the BJP would make all the roads in Kalkaji as smooth as the “cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi” if it comes to power.
Meanwhile, his remarks sparked a massive buzz and drew criticism from opposition leaders, who described his comments as “distasteful” and “sexist.” AAP MP Sanjay Singh also shared a video of Bidhuri’s video of purported remarks.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate slammed Bidhuri on X and said that these comments reflect the ugly mindset of him towards women.
“BJP is extremely anti-women. Ramesh Bidhuri’s statement regarding Priyanka Gandhi is not only shameful but also shows his disgusting mentality towards women. But what else can be expected from a man who abused his fellow MP in the House and did not get any punishment?” She added on her X.
Bidhuri Expresses Regret over his Remarks
However, following facing a massive flak from the opposition, Bidhuri later expressed his regret over his controversial remarks about the Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi that had triggered a row.
While speaking to the ANI news agency, Ramesh Bidhuri clarified his comments.
He said that his remarks were made in the context of remarks by Lalu Yadav’s similar remarks on BJP MP Hema Malini. He emphasized that the Congress party has remained silent over similar matters, and when such similar statements were made during his tenure as a minister.
“I respect women, and I take my words back if they have hurt someone, but I think Congress and AAP should also introspect,” Bidhuri added.
