If you’re flying with Spirit Airlines, wearing revealing clothes or having certain tattoos could now be enough to get you kicked off a flight within no time. The airline has recently updated its policies to prohibit passengers from wearing unacceptable clothing while boarding.
According to a report by the New York Times, the airline in its contract of carriage state, which is a legal document outlining airline and passenger responsibilities. “A guest shall not be permitted to board the aircraft or may be required to leave an aircraft if the passenger is inadequately clothed or whose clothing or article, including body art, is lewd, obscene, or offensive in nature,” Spirit Airlines stated.
The inadequate clothing includes having breasts, buttocks, or other private parts exposed. However, the airline did not clarify what an offensive tattoo is.
Further, the Spirit Airlines also barred barefoot passengers from onboarding. All of these trends are applicable to airline employees, including the flight crew. In recent years, Spirit and other airlines have stopped passengers from onboarding their flights for all kinds of attire or lack thereof, including leggings, clothes printed with expletive-laden slogans, short shorts, and not wearing a bra.

Other Airlines with Such Policies
JetBlue Airways has also adopted such a policy. However, the policy only applies to those who are above age five.
Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines have also reserved such rights to remove the passengers from onboarding, whose attires create “unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers.”
While the American Airlines have simply asked the passengers to dress appropriately, no barefoot or offensive clothing.
