    This controversial moment sparked a drama on the field. The captain expressed her dissatisfaction with the decision, which did not go in her team’s favor.

    The incident occurred during the 14th over of the New Zealand’s innings when Amelia Kerr attempted a run out.

    Harmanpreet Kaur fielded the ball and threw it to the wicketkeeper, Richa Ghosh appeared to complete the run-out.

    However, the umpire’s decision declared the ball dead and the review was not applicable, making Kerr back. This decision sparked a heated debate with Harmanpreet Kaur, making the Indian team visibly upset.

    The decision has led to a widespread discussion among cricket fans and experts, raising question on the umpire’s decision. Amol Muzumdar, Team India’s coach also expressed his dissatisfaction with the umpire’s decision. He even engaged in a lengthy conversation with the fourth umpire.

    New Zealand beat India by 58 runs at the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Group A match held at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, October 4, 2024.

    New Zealand’s Impressive Play

    Chose to bat first after winning the toss, the White Ferns (New Zealand) posted a total score of 160 for 4 in 20 overs, with Sophia Devine scoring an impressive 57 not out off 36 balls. Rosemary Mair, being exceptional with the ball took 2 wickets for 27 runs.

    In response, team India was bowled out for only 102, with Harmanpreet Kaur, who was the top scorer with just 15 runs. However, Renuka Singh was the outstanding bowler, taking 4 wickets for 19 runs.

    From New Zealand’s side, the duo of Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer marked a strong performance by adding 67 runs in 7.4 overs. Bates scored 27 off 24 balls, while Plimmer made 34 runs off 23 balls.

    Their impressive batting for the New Zealand innings, helped them to post a competitive total of 160 for 4.

    Indian Team’s Disappointing Performance

    Meanwhile, Team India needed to have a good start. But opener Shafali Verma didn’t live upto the expectations. She had a tough batting and was dismissed by Eden Carson after scoring only 2 runs.

    While a good performance was expected from Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet’s side. But Smriti and Harmanpreet were dismissed in the first six overs and so, Jemimah also departed soon after she just walked in the ground.

    Additionally, this was the third time, Indian team were all out in a T20 game. The team’s innings were closed up in the 19th over, making 102 runs. Despite the team’s hard work and struggle, the team kept misfielding and even dropped a crucial catch of Plimmer during the opponent’s innings.

    Now, the Long-standing rivals, India and Pakistan are all set to clash off against each other in the next match, scheduled to take on Sunday, October 6, 2024. It will take place at the Dubai International Stadium, beginning at 3:30 PM IST.
