With advancements in technology leading to the introduction of AI tools, the usage of human power and their minds has been minimized. The workforce in the corporate and the digital world has been fastening up with the debut of AI tools such as ChatGPTs making our lives easier
By usingChatGPTwe could do many things in simpler ways from drafting a mail to raising content for your company’s social media posts, ChatGPT has it all. But could an AI tool be biased? Is ChatGPT biased? A recent study conducted on the above subject has answers to these questions.
A study on whether ChatGPT is biased or not has been researched by SciTech Daily and the results have raised concerns over the influence of AI tools on society. The results of the study have been published in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. This study reveals that ChatGPT shows biased behaviors favoring left views and having an ignorance towards the conservative views. The study makes us work on measures to ensure that AI tools such as ChatGPT function in a fair way with the democratic values of society
According to Dr. Fabio Motoki, a lecturer in accounting at UEA’s Norwich Business School and the lead researcher on the paper,”Our findings suggest that generative AI tools are far from neutral. They reflect biases that could shape perceptions and policies in unintended ways.”, said after assessing the Political bias and value misalignment in generative artificial intelligence.
An X user has shared the research findings summary on X. The summary read as follows: ” A new study confirms what many suspectedChatGPT favors left-leaning views, often avoiding or restricting conservative perspectives. Researchers found AI-generated text and images systematically leaned left, with right-leaning prompts frequently blocked over so-called misinformation concerns. This raises major questions about fairness, free speech, and AIs influence on public debate.”
Elon Muskhas reposted the post on his X page captioning it ” Far left”. Trump is also having a legal battle at the court with Open AI to halt the organization from a nonprofit one to a for-profit corporation. Musk is an investor and a former board member of the open AI who has invested about $ 45 million in it in the starting stage of 2018. His legal team argues that the company’s shift to a for-profit corporation contradicts its founding principles.
The US judge Yvonne Gonzalez warned Musk that he would face irreparable harm if his claims proved to be false being skeptical about his claims and calling the case ” Billionaires vs Billionaires”
In the year 2017 Musk wished to become the CEO of Open AI but the co-founders of the company rejected the idea fearing the dual role of him as an investor and CEO would grant him more powers and control over the company. Hence Sam Altman became the next CEO of the company.
The legal team of Open AI also has shown proof of emails claiming that Musk was positive about the for-profit transition of the company in the initial stages; Musk denies such claims.
