US President Donald Trump on June 24 has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in mediating a ceasefire between Israel and Iran after its 12-day war. He is being appreciated for his extraordinary and historic leadership.

US Congressman, Buddy Carter submitted the nomination for him. He mentioned:

"I just nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his historic role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran and preventing the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining the most lethal weapon on the planet."

While submitting the nomination for President Donald Trump, he, in a letter, wrote to Jorgen Watne Frydnes (Norways's politician) and Nobel Peace Prize Committee. In this letter, he explained how well President Trump did, to promote the peace and harmony by encouraging both the nations (Iran and Israel) to facilitate ceasefire. He wrote-

"President Trump's influence was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible. President Trump also took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon. His leadership at this moment exemplifies the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of internal harmony."

This year, its Trump's second nomination for Nobel Peace Prize as a just a few days ago, Pakistan also nominated him for helping to bring peace between India and Pakistan. This happened after both countries got into war like situations following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which took lives of 26 innocent people in the Baisaran Valley.

What is Nobel Peace Prize?

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes which was introduced in year 1895 by a Swedish inventor, Alfred Nobel. The Peace Prize is awarded every year to a person or group that has contributed he most to promote peace in the world. The winner is selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and the prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway.

For this year, almost 338 candidates have been nominated for the respective award. Out of these 244 are individuals and 94 are organizations. And, the laureates of 2025 will be announced on Friday (October 10), with the award ceremony taking place on December 10 in Oslo, Norway.

Past Nobel Peace Prize Winners

Every year, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee awards this. From year 1901, it has been awarded Nobel Peace Prize till 1913. But then, due to World War I, it was not awarded for three years that is from 1914 to 1916. Thereafter, at the times of World War II, the award was not given for five years from 1939 to 1943.
