In a significant move towards facilitating seamless travel for Indian citizens, Paytm has announced that its users can now make UPI payments at select international locations. The New Paytm’s UPI feature covers countries such as UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal. The feature enables Indian travelers to conduct cashless transactions abroad.
Paytm has expanded its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services to several international destinations. Users can now make payments in popular locations across the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal. The feature allows customers to manage various transactions such as retail purchases, dining, and travel experiences directly via the Paytm app.
Setting up UPI International on the Paytm app is simple and secure. You can set up International on the Paytm app easily with the below-mentioned steps:
Open the Paytm app and navigate to the ‘Profile’ section. Select ‘UPI’ and follow the on-screen instructions to link your bank account. This initial step ensures that your payment method is set up correctly for both domestic and international transactions.
When you are abroad and need to make a payment, simply scan a UPI-enabled QR code using the Paytm app. The app will automatically prompt you to activate the UPI International feature, making the process seamless and hassle-free.
Choose the duration for which you need the UPI International service. This can range from 1 to 90 days, depending on the length of your trip. Selecting the appropriate period ensures that the service is active only when necessary, providing convenience and control.
Once activated, use the Paytm app to make payments at any establishment that accepts UPI. Ensure that the merchant has a UPI-enabled QR code for transactions, allowing you to enjoy a seamless and cashless payment experience abroad.
After your trip or when you no longer need the UPI International service, deactivate it via the app. This helps prevent accidental transactions with foreign merchants and adds an extra layer of security and control, ensuring that payments are made only when intended.
With the upcoming holiday season, this launch is expected to make foreign travel more convenient for users. Paytm’s UPI International service allows travelers to manage their spending with ease at iconic international destinations. From vibrant restaurants and shopping spots in Dubai to bustling marketplaces in Singapore and artisanal craft shops in Bhutan, travelers can now enjoy seamless, cashless payments through UPI on the Paytm app wherever it is accepted.
A Paytm spokesperson stated, “As the pioneer of mobile payments in India, we are consistently innovating to bring greater convenience to our users. With UPI International, were thrilled to extend this ease to Indian travelers, enabling them to make secure, cashless payments in countries like the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal. This expansion reflects our commitment to leveraging technology that empowers our users, wherever they are in the world.”
Paytm ensures that all transactions made through UPI International are secure and protected. The app uses advanced encryption methods to safeguard users’ financial information. Additionally, by allowing users to set a specific usage period and deactivate the service when not in use, Paytm provides enhanced control and security over international transactions.
Paytm’s introduction of UPI International is a game-changer for Indian travelers. By offering the ability to make secure, cashless payments in several countries, Paytm is simplifying the travel experience and enhancing convenience for its users. This feature is expected to be particularly beneficial during the holiday season, making foreign trips more enjoyable and stress-free.
